I think a quote from the Trew to Form thread on the other board is somewhat appropriate here:

Trew to form

"They [Notts County] were bailed out of extinction by this guy [Ray Trew] and then they [the fans] resort to giving him disgusting abuse. He's steadied them since the munto finance debacle.

A good insight to what happens when you decide as a fan to attack the person keeping your club afloat. Hopefully relegation beckons and they realise what acting like self entitled bellends lead to."

Some of the more brain - challenged Forest "fans" on Twatter and the like should look at this and think carefully.
Change "Trew" to "Al-Hasawi" and "Munto Finance" to "the death of Nigel Doughty"..

There but for the grace of God.......

He might know these sort of stories are always gonna come out, especially with prats the likes of Percy around ready to jump on anything. We're very grateful for what you've done fawaz if you're reading this, just ignore the idiots. Real fans are behind you

What has he done?

Racked up debt
Sacked a lot of managers
Solidified us as a below average championship club.
Renamed the main stand

Good points.

Against which, on the negative side

When he took over Steve Cotterill was manager.

There wern't enough players to have a matchday squad.

The only 'senior' defender was a young right back still attempting to make his way in the game.

There was no money - to the point of the previous season we had to sell one of our lifetime stalwarts just to survive to the end of the season financially, not that we had any money to offer him a contract anyway.

So really he's had a massive negative impact on the club.

Because we have become beholden to Fawaz's ego I'm afraid I see no reason to be grateful to him. He has made a business decision to buy a football club and he isn't doing a great job of running it in my opinion. He shouldn't be abused for this but neither should he expect gratitude for his contribution to date. When we see some commitment in the form of converting shares to equity then he might have a bit more of a case.

Banks being closed hasn't been a relevant excuse since the 1980s, besides which even if true (which it isn't) a well run organisation prepares...

From my friend.

When doughty passed away the clubs future was in doubt after doughty estate cut all funding apart from wages

Fawaz stepped in and brought the club for around £75 million and has since put in £82 million just to keep the club afloat and unlike doughty the money owed to Fawaz is interest free and will only be paid back once the club can afford to do it

He has refurbished all executive boxes, plans in place to do main stand, he is trying to buy the civic centre to turn into a hotel, he got us players like Henri, Britt etc

He gave us 2 big screens, electronic advertising boards, the academy status has been bettered, brought out kitbag who only gave us £500,000+ per season, he has paid for fans to travel to away games once a season, reduced next season's season ticket prices

Fawaz has had his hands burned and it won't happen again

Fawaz has owned football clubs for past 16 years and there is big plans for the city ground if Fawaz stays

And he also sponsors the shirt to a cool 1.1 million a season

Fawaz has made mistakes definitely, but I do feel for the bloke and think there's a fair lot of good he's done too. As Wes says it kinda balances out, and I'm grateful for the good he has done.

But certain sections of the media have always f**ked us up. They f*** us up left right and centre by stirring shit up constantly.

They make folk worry about stuff which aint really that important. They make folk value stuff that isn't really worth valuing.

Personally, I hope we rise above it and stand by Fawaz. He may be a daft sod some of the time, but he doesn't deserve to be villanized as the "Carry On Kuwait" crew constantly try to season in, season out.

He'll be off with Trew soon

That's a reality tv show that needs to happen. They could tour Europe checking out local cuisine and landmarks.

If Fawaz paid £75 million for us I'll get my knob out in Woolworths window after buying the chain and returning it to it's former tat selling glory.

Again for me, underlines the good Dougie is doing.

The further down the football period you go, the more of a siege mentality you can create when there's money problems. Look at Northampton. Their money issues helped them get closer and they're excelling.

The higher up you go in the leagues, the more egos there are to deal with. The more agents there are. The higher the distress becomes, even though they'll be the ones that could cope with not being paid on time by a day or two.

Fawaz releases a statement explaining the payment delay and those who pilloried him earlier without knowing the facts now refuse to believe his statement is true.

Oh dear, what have we become.

Fawaz will be hounded out & then we will really be f**ked.

Its building into a perfect storm for Nottingham Forest. FFP, an embargo and a hole where the owner used to be.

I'm sad that that people jump on the negativity of a 1 day late payment & never the positivity of what I have done for this wonderful club.

I made the commitment to leave my country, my family & my home to put this club back where it belongs. Don't believe the hype'! DEFLECTION

I personally am happy to have Fawaz and know he's tried his best and who I believe is starting to come good after maybe making a few mistakes initially. The club is stable financially in reality ignoring the ffp bullshite. Psycho got a free reign to do what he felt best and was supported in bringing in his targets into the club. It was unfortunate that Psycho wasn't a success for us managerially but being world class in two separate roles, player and then manager was always a big ask and personally think he was given long enough contrary to what some have said. Dougie seems to be left to manage how he sees fit as well plus has been given a fair amount of time to prove himself for sure as I'd personally be looking to try someone else what with how we have under achieved in my opinion but I rate Fawaz for his patience. All the managers have been well backed financially so all that Colin Wanker crap seems to have been Colin's usual charming self talking BS when he never got the job! Fawaz is all good to me and deserves to be appreciated for actually sticking his hand in his pocket and doing his best for the benefit of Forest!
