TV Ground Debate

She now seemed to favour the derilict land near the station (which I think would actually be brilliant and probably even better than city ground) but there must be a good reason this was not proposed over Gamston.

There is, the City Council would have to buy the land back, contrary to popular believe they no longer own much of the Eastside site. Personally although contradicting herself a number of times she made some valuable points. I mean this isn't just about building a new stadium, the housing development would stretch as far as Tollerton destroying huge areas of green belt land that can never be recovered plus Transport links are poor. No extension of the tram is in the Gamston Plans meaning everybody would have to get there by Road. Although disagreeing with her on a lot of things she make some good points and at least she had the bottle to appear unlike Jon Collins at the City who declined Radio Nottinghams invitation. Anyway whether you support a move or not I think its safe to say a move to Gamston is now highly unlikely

Its like when you go to the Neu Camp in Barcelona, and go up the escalators and walk over that bridge from the club shop into the upper levels and the grandeur of it.

We're not Barca though are we, and Nottingham isn't a capital city.

Besides, I don't really give a shit if the stadium is shiny and covered in glass. The City Ground is in a great place next to the Trent, and is full of history.

I'm sure once we're in the Prem, we'll have the money to make any repairs needed, but I'm not sure about all this "the City Ground is falling to bits :frantic: " stuff anyway.

I'm sure it won't actually cost the club much (in the scale of things) I think around 25 million was mentioned. Due to the retail and other developable opportunities they would pretty much pay the ground off. And if the council are so serious about the world cup I'd expect them to be investing one way or another seeing as the world cup will be investing in the city rather than Forest. And at the current climate, no doubt it will cost a lot less than it would have done when the plans were first put forward !

Excellent article ! Very well written and puts me in no doubt that the club are trying to distance themselves from the inner fight between councils. Very informative and blunt from Mr Arthur !

This is part of what I had been hoping to see with all recent developments. I have recently wonder why Cllr Cutts hasn't attempted to lead her own investigation into the ground improvement. Reading the relevant info available, it does begin to appear that she is provoking a lot of noise with no hard facts or support from fellow councillors to take other action rather than release statements effectively damaging the city's bid and any future plans.

Thank you Mr Arthur and Forest. More info like this please !!!

I would 100% back a bid to move the stadium to the area near the station. I havent read the thread in depth so dont know exactly what the situation with that land is but surely in the grand scheme of things this would be a perfect place to have a stadium fit for the world cup and more importantly to be a beneficial move for Nottingham Forest. It would be easy to access for away fans via the train station and would surely cost less to extend any public transport routes if this would even be needed.
