Lucky the Bournemouth manager isn't John McEnroe.

Now..an intelligent attacking team would immediately place a couple of players on the spray 10 yard line once the ref's drawn it but the defence is still whingeing and isn't standing on it.

They're allowed to stand there and there has to be a yard between the attackers and the defensive wall....

Thinking back to that one Newcastle got that both started outside the area AND was offside. But still awarded by VAR.

I thought the rules were that wasn’t a penalty if it jumped up by deflection?

According to the Premier League guidelines, a player will be penalised for handball if:

✅️ The hand/arm is clearly away from the body and outside the "body line".
⭕️ The player clearly leans into the path of the ball.
✅️ The ball travels some distance.
⭕️ The ball touches a hand/arm that is clearly raised above the shoulder.
⭕️ The player falls and the hand/arm is extended laterally or vertically away from the body.
✅️ A deflection clearly makes no difference to the ball touching a hand/arm that is clearly extended away from the body and/or above the shoulder.
⭕️ Immediately after touching the ball with the arm, even accidentally, the player scores a goal or creates a goal-scoring opportunity.

Maybe I need to watch it again as I didn’t think his arm was that far away from his body, it seemed tucked in. Especially when compared to Harry Maguire against us last season where he was doing a nelly the elephant impression and it wasn’t deemed hand ball.

Just seen James Maddison's challenge on MOTD. Twice in a week he's escaped what may have been red cards.

Because he's such a nice lad. Never done nothing to nobody.

The mush on the receiving end went down holding* his canister, now if it was me as my heed is like a space hopper fair dos, but I’d laugh my back off if Maddison was red carded and the the recipient of the kick to the arm got the same, one is dangerous the other cheating ( in my book) …..no doubt it hurt his arm not his heed.

That Bournemouth ManU game yesterday highlights what many people are now starting to realise.

The 2 handball incidents were markedly similar in that the ball suddenly bounced up at the player whose arms were close to his body (yes even Maguire, the uncoordinated loon)

Against ManU, instantly no.
When the ball hits the Bournemouth player, instant on-field decision given as penalty and we all know that 99.9% of the time var backs up the on-field decision even when it's laughable.

And then there's the holding and wrestling for the penalty.

Ref is well placed, has a look and a think, and points to the spot.

VAR reviews the incident. They deliberately stop the action at the very first frame of contact, which is, indeed outside the box.
If you let the action run on for 1 second you see the grappling continues until the players are well inside the box and the attacker hits the floor.

If VAR had run the action on, they took would have seen that and, under the current laws, where a foul begins outside the box but continues into the box a penalty is awarded, they'd have backed up the on-field decision.

But they deliberately didn't do that, and overturned the penalty.

A "big 6" team benefitted from all 3 decisions, and that's not right.

Somehow doesn’t matter how much everyone is telling me how this is the most exciting title race EVER, I just can’t bring myself to care that much. Doesn’t help that the most recent game between two of the teams involved was dull as ditchwater.

If pushed i’d root for Man City I suppose, but we still have to play them so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Aside from the ‘Klopp factor’ and historical animosity, fundamentally Liverpool just aren’t particularly good and don’t deserve to win anything this season.
