I heard it was significantly less than that figure touted - nearer £40m.
Fabrizio has just said £35m as it met a release clause.

I wonder what the terms of that clause were. Considering both are in the Europa League, £35m seems like a rather low figure for a transfer fee clause.

He's been at Brighton on a 4-5 year contract since 2019. Maybe the release cause was a more realistic valuation when negotiated. I'm still surprised no-one else showed an interest to increase the fee further.

I think he'll do well at Liverpool, but of course hope he doesn't.

£35m for MacAllister is a bargain. If I was a Brighton fan I'd be gutted to see him leave for so little. Though with Brighton's recent track record in the transfer market, they will probably unearth another gem for 20p and a half eaten Mars bar anyway.

Picking the Argentine market as we seem to be doing with their neighbour. Argentinos Juniors have been a decent breeding ground for talent, and not just Maradona.

I've a feeling if we had a good season like Brighton, someone like Danilo would be crowbarred out of our arms to the top 6 in a similar way, despite the long contract. Hope he doesn't have a low release clause.....................

40% of the PL will be playing European football next season, I wonder if this might aid us in terms of being fresher
You can be sure that West Ham wouldn't have been anywhere near the bottom this season without that Euro run. If they hadn't beaten Man Utd in early May it would have been very interesting with them right in the mix.

It certainly hits those with the smaller squads depth. I see similar for West Ham next season along with Villa, Brighton and even Newcastle unless they get a few more decent players in.

I'm trying to equate McAllister going for £35 million and West Ham asking £100million for Rice.

Doesn't seem to balance for me.

Yeah I know Rice is good, but that seems a really high valuation, especially for a defensive midfielder.

Of all the teams in the Premier League, Brighton are the one I admire most. They lost their manager and it didn’t seem to phase them, in fact they were better off for it.

Coupled with the fact they have a decent set of fans.

The only negative they have as far as I’m concerned is that Dunk character.

Don't forget MacAllister would have been slightly under market value because of his release clause.

I do think Rice is a much better player than MacAllister though. He reminds me of Yaya Toure when he was younger. I think only De Bruyne carries the ball from deep midfield better than him currently.

MacAllister you genuinely don't know how good he is because we have seen loads of times players leave Brighton and look pretty bog standard. I'm also not sure how he suits Liverpool's style.

I think this interview illustrates why Spurs unfortunately have a very good manager and a very good man on their hands. He comes across really well and at the same time you can tell he's a fighter.

Unfortunately for him, I think that the toughest opponent that he'll need to fight is probably going to those above him at the club.

Mac Allister can play as 6, 8 or 10. Rice can play as a 6 or 8, but maybe better than the Argentinan.

He'll easily fit into Liverpool's system because it currently lacks a midfielder who can cross the gap to the forwards.

But more importantly, Mac Alister has just left Brighton - the tight-rope artists of the high-press. He's exactly what Klopp needs to refocus his geigen-press. Rice, on the other hand, comes from -and has excelled in - a mid-low block system.

Mac Allister is still a risk for Liverpool, as are all their signings. But MacAllister is coachable and Liverpool have a good coaching regime. Its not just that Klopp is renowned for it, they have a coaching staff bigger than the first team squad.

My earnest colleague here is absolutely correct; this is why the scousers were so interested in Jude Bellingham, until they were priced out of it by a big club, as he too can transition midfield into attack.

Mac Allister is a very good player, and he is absolutely going to fit into the German-style gegenpressen that Klopp preaches.

Villa signed Tielemans.
It could be a good signing but surprised that none of the big boys went in, maybe they saw his last season as an indication that he's more about cash than working hard. Villa apparently also are in for Oxlade-Chamberlain, if they both have a chance of coming good again, you'd say it would be under Emre but could also be expensive busted flushes too.

I do think Villa overachieved this year it will be interesting to see what they do this season coming. The added factor of Conference League football could be a negative factor for them. It really messed West Ham up in the league.
