How much was promotion worth £170m ? The wage bill will be interesting with all these new players ? Or is that factored into the transfer fee ?
Think promotion is 90m every year in the premier league plus guaranteed 40m each as parachute payments for the next 2 years. If you survive your first season, then you get an extra year of parachute payments. Also believe finishing every position higher than 17th in the table is worth around 2m extra.

So 90+40+40=170m if you come straight down or 90+90+40+40+40= 300m if you survive your first season.

Everton forum:

"Deja Vu. Forest are going to become the new Everton. Paying well over the odds for players and spending it by shed loads. Good luck with that. It doesn't work the way you want it to."

"Shocking how Forest can net their striker targets yet Everton can’t. We all know what’s coming on Sat."

"Doesn't seem to be any structure to their signings though. Like us when we got money. It is just a list of players that people fancy at the moment."

"Cooper will more than likely figure it out at Forest. On paper, they now have a squad to survive. Are we going to do some proper business or are we going to accept our place at the bottom of the table?"

"Has the potential to go absolutely t**s up for them as well… Can see players with previous questionable attitude like lingard, Dennis not respecting cooper if results don’t go great. A lot of players to keep happy as well. They’ll be right in the relegation mix for me."

"Be dead funny if Forest go down"

Leicester forum:

"Where the hell are they getting all this cash from!

We're skint and there spending billions!"

"Forest are absolutely batsh!t. How much is KDH worth if this guy is worth £45m? Crazy."

"Olympiacos fans must be absolutely fuming."

"It'd be so sweet if they went down after spending all this money. Please make it happen."

Fulham forum:

"Gibbs-White for £45m

Why doesn't FPP apply to them ?"

"That is a complete waste of money. Not jealous in the slightest, but I hope they fall on their sword with this. No way can they justify this much spending and comply with FFP"

"I don’t see how they can be compliant even staying up. What is it now in fees, £170m atleast then add agents fees then amortise that and add wages (Lingard alone is a huge amount). Something very dodgy going on, hardly surprising given what their owner has got away with previously. Barely anything being asked by the media who I assume are too scared of the bloke."

"You have to wonder how involved Cooper is in these deals really."

Bournemouth forum:

"My god. That... is properly ridiculous. Forest has thrown everything but the kitchen sink at it. If Gibbs-White really was a £44.5m player, there'd be plenty more teams in the mix for his signature. He'd be spoken of in hushed tones as the second coming of Rooney or something. This isn't even me trashing Forest - their spend doesn't make any sense whatsoever. If they go down again, they are screwed. Realistically, they don't have what it takes to be much more than a Crystal Palace mid table sort of side and even then that would be nonsensical money spent. Wolves are laughing there. That's quite a profit on an academy player."

"How will Forest get on with FFP? They have shelled out an absolute fortune."

"How much have Forest spent now ? Hate to mention FFP but how do they avoid falling foul of the rules. Must have spent more than Fulham last time they came up."

Sheffield United forum:

"Where is Forest's money coming from... well apart from their heroine smuggling owner who (**) would've been convicted of drug smuggling had witnesses in the case not been mysteriously murdered? Still, he passed the Premier League suitable owner test.

Premier League.
Have you ever killed someone.

Owner.
Well, sort of. I ordered the killings but didn't pull the trigger myself.

Premier League.
Are you involved in any other illegal activity?

Owner.
Yes. Importation and supply of class A drugs. But that's in Greece, not the UK.

Premier League.
How rich are you?

Owner.
Well, when you sell coke and H by the brickload and have enough money to pay someone to assassinate witnesses, I have enough to risk my clubs long term future in pissing money up the wall. Is that enough?

Premier League.
You said you're Greek and not from Saudi Arabia, right?

Owner.
Yep.

Premier League.
Welcome on board. Happy spending. Thanks for bringing one of the giants of football back. We've had to use extra thick kleenex since we found out Forest had been promoted."

"English Tax"

"MGW was fantastic here last season but he's still unproven at PL level. That said I think he will cut it at that level but that price is OTT. Forest are panic buying. They are trying to assemble a PL team virtually overnight. Big gamble. Successful teams usually are built over time rather than instantly."

"Good for MGW, I'm sure a deal that big will have also come with cracking wages too!

I do worry for Forest financially if it all goes wrong. I'm glad we took the sensible route whilst in the PL"

"Is forest owner related to chansiri they'll either get into Europe or be in league one in 5 years"

"Forest acting like a kid in a sweet shop. Wolves stupid to let him go. Good luck to MGW, but I also hope his next milestone is a relegation."

"I now hope Wolves get relegated with both Leeds and Florist."

"Tell you what 45m for a player that has had one decent season in the championship. Bonkers. Wolves must be laughing"

"Just to correct you.
FOReST are laundering stupid amounts of money"

"Strange though isn't it, but when I bought my house in the UK I had to show proof of funds as part of money laundering regulations, yet FOReST are spending ridiculous amounts of cash and nobody bats an eyelid! "

"Well they'll end up like derby"

Aston Villa forum:

"45 mil for gibbs-white seems madness to me! he might turn out to be a great player but surely that is insane!?"

"it is...but fair play for them having a good crack at it, better than bournemouth being a total waste of a PL place"

"True. Much rather Forest stay up than tin pot Bournemouth. "

"Incredible the spending power of a promoted team compared to much of Europe"

"Yeah, Gibbs-White has looked a proper player when I've watched him.

For someone who is almost identically the same age, it feels that Conor Gallagher is massively overrated whilst Gibbs-White is somewhat underrated."

"Forest doing a Fulham x2"

"But with the magic ingredient of Steve Cooper"

"Forest are now pretty much in a position where they have to stay up. The club generates about £22m a season in the Championship. Lingard will take £8m of that on his own."

"Good luck to them - ballsy motherfunkers"

Everton have spent, in the last ten seasons, £506m on - frankly - absolute shite.

So they can shut up.

The last Aston Villa poster doesn't seem to realise Lingard is only on a one year deal.

Plus they all are jealous as hell because their owner hasn't backed the manager like ours.

They all seem to presume, especially Everton, that because they spunked money on crap players, everybody who spends money on players are making the same mistakes.

Football fans allow rivalry to cloud intelligence. Every football fan that isn't a Forest fan quotes the fee for MGW at £45m, just like they throw around Lingard's wage at £200,000 per week. Just for once can't they try to be a little less ignorant?

No clouding, they are either just stupid or too lazy to look up basic facts first eg Lingard wages, MGW actual transfer fee.

Seems only the Villa fans have half a clue.

The line about us buying players without structure for example. Couldn’t be further from the truth could it? We are buying exactly to plan. Whether it works or not is a different matter.

Huge props to our Greek members on here who said at the outset of the window that EM will go big and that he would not settle for being an also-ran now he is dining at the top-table. I was sceptical but how wrong I was.

Totally agree...I'd say he's gone bigger than big though, he's done a Fulham.

Anyone else get the feeling EM wasn't kidding when he spoke of trophies (one day I might add)
Aye when big EM says it’s raining it’s pissing down

It’s hilarious how these teams think that an owner backing his manager and club will break FFP rules.

I almost feel bad for them as I truly believe that the Marinakis family will continue reinvesting every penny this club makes into the club.

We will be in Europe in 5 years and everyone will still say we’re breaking all the rules even though we will probably be earning 300m a year by then.

Most the clubs crying broke FFP rules, as far as I'm aware we're not even bending them at the moment.

If we were I wouldn't be happy (certainly not "pulling strings").

It just genuinely seems like jealousy, "established Prem teams" being left behind by "little" forest. All of them would kill for our history, let alone our present.

f*** them, feed me them salty tears.

Sheffield United spent over £40m on Mcburnie and Brewster.

Bournemouth spent £30m on Ibe and Afobe with smaller crowds than County and an owner who is absolutely not Russian and they burned ffp rules to the ground in going up and down and up and....well you get the point.

Leicester cheating local businesses by skanking an admin sale, then battered ffp and have spent absolutely millions on rubbish players, £60m on Slimani and Perez for example, they would have more money if they didn't buy garbage for massive prices. If they can't understand why their owners have no money right now then they are even thicker than I gave them credit for, and thats really not much.

Fulham, well to be fair they did a Fulham didn't they.
