Ipswich now signing Liam Delap from Man City for 15m +5m in add ons. He was on loan at Hull last year 8 goals in Championship.

They are spending money 20m for Hutchinson and then 40m for the two lads from Hull (might only get one of them it looks like).

Be interesting to see if the media take a pop at them like they did us for daring to spend money.

At the moment they are “showing ambition”.

Wonder when the turning point is?

Theyve spent a heck of a lot of money and if they were starting the season in the championship you'd probably say that they had one of the top 4 or 5 squads there but.....

The EPL is a different beast and if Muric is their new number 1 then they are frankly doomed because he will get absolutely rinsed trying to play out as well as being targeted on set peices.

Muric is terrible and not really PL standard but I don't think he did too badly at this level for Burnley last season, though by the point they replaced Trafford with Muric they were basically down. Think there were a couple of errors but mainly he was solid enough in a relegation side.

I don't think that he is any worse than either of the two keepers we signed last summer.

Muric wasn't that bad because he didn't play that much. When he did play he dropped a few clangers which put the final nail in their coffin.

I really don't get that signing, Ipswich aren't gonna be playing like Burnley so why sign a goalkeeper that's specialty is playing out from the back?

They are spending money but not much is worrying me so far. Southampton have been quiet too & Leicester can't really spend anything. You can easily see another 3 coming up & going down at the moment.

The thing with Muric is that a lot of people remember when he was on loan to us, where he was absolutely terrible yet came with a good reputation as he was on loan from city, he was so bad we ended up panic buying Samba which turned out to be a good move, but the other options we had at the club were all terrible, Steele, Pantilimon and Smith (he was probably better than Pants). So people think of those matches especially the WBA game when that was 5 years ago and he was still a young player. He's not particularly old now for a keeper yet he's won promotion from the CH with Burnley where he didn't do too badly.

I don't think Muric is good but he is a better keeper than the one we had.

I don't think he would be the right fit for them but ironically he's probably a better fit for someone like City who don't generally need their keeper to do a lot.

I'm not really sure Burnley changing Trafford for Muric had much impact on whether they stayed up or not, they seemed to be going down whatever happened, and it was only Luton that showed some desire to not, but even they ended up not being close especially in points won on field.

I'd rather have Muric than Vlachodimos or Turner but then that doesn't say a lot

As bad as Turner was at times did he make any mistakes worse than these three below? And that's just from a very quick google search, and three separate matches when he only played in ten...

Edit - guessing tiktok links not allowed as it's not showing up!

Fair play to Ipswich for putting it about a bit. Beats the likes of Norwich coming up and just banking the cash.

Whether it works or not remains to be seen but at least they're having a go. I hope they stay up as they're a proper club, hopefully at someone like Brentford's expense.

Muric always has a mistake in him like Turner. I think in fact Turner did make plenty of mistakes, often down to poor kicking, such as the Spurs goal, and there was plenty he shouldn't have let in and did otherwise, he was getting pelters on here almost every match. And then there were things like the Brentford match where he should have conceded a pen but for some reason the ref didn't give it. (And he was partially responsible for that Ivan Toney mess in the away match too).

Turner probably edges it slightly in terms of actual competence because he is at least a capable shot stopper but it's a difficult comparison because Turner's strength is a bit of a weakness for Muric and vice versa. One thing Muric is good at is his passing which Turner can't do very well at all. Also, Turner is 30 this calendar year and Muric is what, only about 25ish, so one of them has the potential to get better with what seems to me like mental mistakes, in the sense that he probably can do better technically but for reasons such as concentration doesn't deliver as well on the pitch.

I do think if Ipswich do get Muric they'll be getting pelted on several occasions this season because he will probably make a mistake which leads to a goal every few games.

Turner is a good goalkeeper but he has a terrible mentality. Sels is probably a similar quality to Turner as a keeper but doesn't lose his head at the first sign of hardship so is a much better keeper to have in your goal.

Yeah, kind of.

His actual handling is good. He is a decent shot stopper and not too bad aerially. But of course we all know he can't kick the ball... Which is a massive weakness at this level because teams will put him under pressure as well as defenders when they know the option is to pass back and they don't want to exercise it.

Also when he makes a mistake he seems to cack it for ages after it and then after a while it becomes when as opposed to if the clanger's going to come.

There's a reason why he played most of his career in the MLS and then Arsenal bought him for a lot, chose not to play him, and then brought in Raya.

After the Wolves player was racially targeted by Como players and Podence got sent off for punching in defence of his team mate, this is the justification that Como have put out!

Shocking gaffe and whilst its absolutely indefensible at least its taken over from us in posting the most outrageous Tweet by a football club!

Would seem that Podence went all Bruce Lee when Hwang was called Jackie Chan
Bet it was a bit like that scene in Police Academy, with the trainee can do all the various voices, when he does his impression of a badly-dubbed Kung Fu movie:

So…you wanna fight…eh?“

Everton mess united around with Brathwaite, United go and spank 55mil on an 18yo French CB.
There goes any recovery in PSR for Everton...
Everton should be fine with psr, the sales of Dobbin and Godfrey sorted them for last psr year, this year their big loss year also drops off. They were at £125m over the £105m 3 year limit by 22/23, they will be at around £100m with the sales from last year and next year a massive loss comes off so in theory they can actually go nuts. I think they have a slight question from last years psr escapades outstanding but they aren't expecting issues.

They also have Onanas sale going through at present which should net them a psr profit of around £30m.

They didn't need to sell Branthwaite for less than they valued him at, Manure are taking umbridge because they believe that they should be able to force people to sell players for whatever they see fit but have at the same time bought players for a combined total of around £130m because they met those clubs valuation of those players.

Aston Villa sign Amadou Onana from Everton to take their summer spending so far to £134.2m, plus undisclosed transfer fees.

2 of those players signed were players Villa previously sold with buy back clauses. Philogene from Hull, and Cameron Archer from Sheff Utd.

Overall, I think their spending must be over the £150m mark as Archer cost Sheff Utd £18m.

Watching this on SSN, they have sold Luiz and about to sell Diaby, which brings in north of 80 million. They also bought 🐴 from Everton for 10 million, was that a down payment for Onana? Champions league money will cover some PSR issues but are there other shenanigans going on here?

They're already looking at a winger to replace Diaby. Apparently Joao Felix, Nico Williams and Kulusevski are high on their list of targets.

None of them will come cheap so it'll probably be £50m in and £50m straight back out again.
