Don't want him.

He didn't want us. He didn't believe in the 'project'. He doesn't want to fight to make it happen, he wants to walk into an already succesful set up rather than help create one.

He don't believe in us, I don't believe in him. No matter how good a player he may be he doesn't have what it takes for Nottingham Forest's journey.

The interesting part is that we offered him the exact same wage he's on at Chelsea, so it's not like he was expected to take a pay cut to join us

I could understand him turning us down if we were trying to lowball his wages but we weren't so what else is he going to hold out for? He'll have to seriously impress this season if he's holding out for >£60k p/w elsewhere

Agree with that. We've tried a few times with him and each time he's chosen to stay and sit on the bench for the easy life rather than make something happen elsewhere. It must run in the family.

Don't mind if I'm honest, he's a good player and possibly fancies himself to get in a Chelsea defence that looks anything but solid. Also it must be disappointing that his move to Bayern failed but one would think that they may go back in a few months time because it doesn't look like they managed to get the additional cb that they wanted.

He might need time and a few phone calls with CHO to understand what a special place it could be for him and in that time we may well have moved on an secured a better player anyway, in fact we may already have them at the club now anyway.

If we maintain our performances I think it will be the other way round in January and players will be approaching us to join, if Trevs not one then its not going to break my heart.

We have spent all summer chasing players that don't want to be here apparently, I would just wait and see what happens. If there wasn't an interest from the players side we wouldn't be trying to sign him.

A year ago, a young defender allegedly turned us down and instead opted to spend a season playing for a London team's reserves. And in the year since, we've made significant strides forward as a club while that same defender has stagnated and is now plying his trade back in the Championship.

Take note, clever Trevoh. We will outgrow you too soon enough.

Wouldn't hurt to have a third good young CB though would it, given Cooper's preferred system.
Yes, wouldn't be surprised to see him, or an another young cb rock up at the CG eventually. Boly and Felipe both getting on a bit, and McKenna maybe not viable long term if we establish ourselves as a decent PL team.

I don't actually think he's that great, so I'm happy we missed out on him, especially at £25m. That's serious cash.

No idea if the two young CB's we picked up are going to be any better mind.

I maintain he's a very good player who I'd be more than happy to join the squad.

Funny how some see holding out for a (failed) move to Bayern as a slight on his character.
Yeah, I don't get the anger towards him for that. I think any player would hold out for a move to a massive club like Bayern (who are pretty much guaranteed to win silverware every year and compete in the Champions League) over joining us.

I still think he'd be a great signing if it is a possibility in January.

He did still turn us down that evening though after the German transfer window had shut. So he chose to stay at Chelsea rather than joining us when Bayern were definitively out of the picture.

I'd still have him though I think, especially with the Cooper connection.

Nobody could blame him for holding out for Bayern, but even after the move to Germany fell through he still chose to stay at Chelsea where his game time will be very limited. For me he's chosen to stay in his comfort zone.

As a Yoof with money, London is a good place to live, did so myself in my twenties. It's a massive attraction and Nottingham doesn't always get a good press from an outsiders pov. As an old gimmer now though, it would take Shipstones Horses to drag me anywhere within the M25.

Or he thinks he is good enough to force his way back in to the team.
Maybe but for me the fact that Chelsea were entertaining bids for him on deadline day suggests to me that they don't see much of a future for him there.

You’d think so but everyone knows things can change quickly at chelsea. He may back himself to be better than other ahead of him and thinks an injury or (god forbid) another new manager may see him back in favour. He probably thinks biding his time for at least 3 or 4 months is worth it in the long run. He may get back in at chelsea, he may get a shot at another top club in January. His agent may have had word from Bayern that they plan to go again in January. We just don’t know.

I certainly think he has options other than to drop down now and try and work his way back up.

Probably thinks he can get his move to Bayern in January. It’s hardly a dick move to hold out for a huge move to a mega club when you know they are interested in you.

I would still take him here in January.

Yep seems fair enough to me on his part. And if we can pick up the deal If that falters. I’ll take that.
