Time for Pearce to get involved

thehockleyhustler

Stuart Pearce
Now The Playoff chase is realistically over, Pearce needs to let GB know who is in his plans for next season and who will be moved on.

For example, it's pretty clear Jara won't be here next season so why play him? I would rather play one of the youth team over someone more concerned over his summer activities than playing for Nottingham Forest.

There is clearly a squad split which also needs to be sorted before July when Pearce officially takes over to ensure it doesn't carry over into next season.

If Pearce wants to hit the ground running, he needs some sort of involvement now.

Ideally he would be getting his coaching staff in place, and sending in his assistant now. However he seems to have intimated that they are currently employed elsewhere.

May as well let Fawez pick the team for the last 4 games, it might be good fun for everyone.

He needs to hit someone and it,s not the ground.

Tend to agree with this.

Surely Pearce needs to be 'having a look' at what's worth keeping and checking the 'sell by dates' on the rest :)

He's watching games, and regularly speaking with Fawaz and GB. I wonder what he was writing yesterday...
That's quite involved for a man who's yet to start the job.

If Pearce has any sense at all (and I'm not sure he has seeing as how he has taken the job on in the first place), he'll make sure he's seen to have absolutely nothing to do with this utter clusterfuck of a season whatsoever.

I still can't get over how such a season can go from so promising to so bad. Mainly because of folk who are all on the same side refusing to pull together and back each other.

A little faith and forgiveness go a long way, but at least Pearce will get more of both.

I bet he is already getting involved. But doesn't want to tie himself down due to pre agreed commitments and personal issues.
I think it's important that he gets his own time away from the hustle and bustle of match days when the season is over to put his own identity on the club. As ATM it's not a good time to be tarred with the current mess.
I can see both sides though in regards to wanting him in now, as bless him Gary Brazil is just dirtying his name at the club with every passing performance. This management lark is not for him.

Alf, Davies fooked up big time. It was obvious that there were always going to be people looking to shoot him down at every opportunity without him loading the shotgun and aiming it at his own foot for them.

And Pearce will get the same amount of tolerance, understanding and time as the rest of them have from an over-expectant, volatile and inpatient fanbase - Absolutely none whatsoever. The first rumblings will come the moment we drop a point.

In all seriousness he will love it when he's back in the daily grind.
We have some great players at the club. And I still say if we didn't suffer so many key injuries we would had made the play offs at least.

Our play of place was nailed on

Then we had Hobbs, landsbury and Reid injured

Season over

I include Davies in that mate. He should have pulled together too.

And that frightens the shit out of me, because if Pearce fails I think we're likely to sink like a stone.

Yes it's got to be an attractive job for him. Before the injuries derailed everything, our team wasn't outplayed by anyone, and we were dominating nearly every game. With the right management and a few additions we should be right up there again this season. Oh I mean next season. Already feels like the close season.

Greening jara Derbyshire should not be getting a place now.

They won't be playing here next season so get some young ones in

And ffs brazil play players in the position they know.

Square pegs in round holes don't work

I'd like to see Fawaz hold his nerve with Pearce and ignore the fans. Give him at least two years. Collectively the fans are never to going to agree on anything, and there will always be a section who want the current manager out, whoever he is, especially if he's not winning every game.

I thought it.was season over when Cohen was injured

But that might be my pessimistic nature

I think we managed to handle that one and the Wilson injury very well. But Hobbs injury was huge. Lansburys and Lichaj was the Nail in the coffin, with Reids being the hammer.

As I understand it, we have seven players out of contract and four who are currently on loan.

Loans
Fox has already agreed a permanent two year deal which has yet to be signed in the summer and it's unclear what's likely to happen to Gomis, Peltier and Vaughan.

Out of contract
Jara, Moussi, Greening, Derbyshire, Gillett, Miller and Tudgay.

I'd be surprised if we see contracts renewed for all of them.

I'd be surprised if Vaughan wasn't given a contract considering we loaned him when he was already injured. I can only assume we did so on the agreement that we'd buy him in the summer.

I think he has much to offer a midfield incorporating Paterson, Reid and Lansbury and would be happy for him to stay, assuming fit of course.

The jury is also out for me on Gomis as we haven't really seen him play much at all. The fact that he hasn't featured when our defence has been as ineffective as it is, doesn't really bode well for him.

As for Derbyshire and Tudgay.......could be useful for cover assuming we bring in a new spanking striker, or two.
