So if I've got this correct, Randall let us know we would be safe from FFP and that we have agreed a 250 year lease with the council, neither of which are remotely true.

This was either complete incompetence or we were being lied to.
Or he was pissed at the time 🤣

Clearly all options are open, as they must be. However, a master plan / implies some details / implies negotiation with Rushcliffe / boat club ..... if I had a 'master plan' I'd be shouting it from the rooftops. It sounds like more flannel to me, I hope that I am wrong though. To be fair, I'll go and read the article in The Athletic.

Are those shipping containers going to be permanent then?? Hope it doesn’t look as bad as I imagine but all I can think of is this monstrosity at Oakwell

Used to be some at Belle Vue (both Donny and Wakefield) that made them look tame.

I know the bloke that owns Britannia Drilling. He threatened to withdraw his sponsorship when they wouldn't let him sit in his Exec box during lockdown.

I’m interested in seeing the training ground plans. I would like it if we built it in a location that would piss off the sheep after they used to go on about how amazing moor farm was…

Do we own the land at Wilford lane as I’m guessing that would be worth a fair bit if it was sold for housing… which would finance the new training ground

Did they still charge him for it?

Exec boxes are distanced so actually there probably wouldn't have been much of a virus risk from allowing that either. Provided they could manage the flow of people going in and out (staggered entry and exit times and observing 2m in communal areas for example) they probably could have used them.

But then, being in the stands is open air.

Looking back a lot of stuff which wasn't allowed during lockdown probably didn't have much effect on stopping the virus.

I think we do. It was the County Council Sports group and I'm sure Forest bought it. Yes, prime spot for housing but planning would be an issue .. not insurmountable I think, but not straightforward either because of the amount of building that has occurred along Wilford lane and the Greythron Drive site would add to traffic, be the 'last one' to be built, and the existing bungalows would whinge a lot.

The site is protected by a restrictive covenant ensuring that the land can only be utilised for recreational purposes, be it privately (as it is now) or for public use (as it was).

Housing won't be built there.

I think he got some money back, or a discount for the following season. I don't think the club were opposed to letting him in, it's just the guidelines didn't allow for it.

I've read the article and it got me excited. To be sure there's a big element of 'expectation management' in there, and probably it is, to an extent, a reaction to the negativity and cynicism that is current amongst the supporter base.

Positives: aspirational, 40,000 or more, new training base (urgently required and I know of enquiries being made over some years), aware of icome generation potential, sustainability (solar panels), benefits for the wider economy ... all good.

Negatives: obviously the big bad apple is the lease (spa will happen unless they can sort that, or purchase the freehold), nothing about safe standing, nothing about creating an 'end', nothing about where the visiting supporters will be located.

All done by 2027? Be lovely if true. Expanded Bridgford, plans 'ready to go in'? Well, that will be a planning battle for sure because to increase the capacity by 5,000 there means that the stand will be higher, so we're into light issues as well as access. It would look great and it is needed, and obviously Tom Cartledge believes that it is possible so let's hope he is correct.

The get out is "if we can't sort it we'll have to relocate but we don't want to". To put it another way, if it's cheaper, easier and gives us a better solution, we will move and blame someone else.

Overall though reading that has given me an increased sense of optimism. Forest PR dept please take note.

I hope this museum they mention will be one dedicated to Alf's Microsoft Paint artwork
I have it on good authority* that the Museum will also include printouts of the entire „LTLF Gold“ section of this very forum?

Thanks for the heads up. What will become of the site then? I wonder if we could sell it to the Sadpies?
Renting Trent Pool from us is more than sufficient for that lot, and I can't see them applying for an academy category-level that would require them to have need of a site as big as the NDA.

Selling to a commercial enterprise is possible I suppose - golf ranges, tennis/squash courts, that sort of thing?

County could train in the car park of the Dog & Duck, that’s about their level.

If, hypothetically, the First Team did move elsewhere then I'd imagine the club would still get plenty use out of the site, for Academy sides, and possibly even could give the Womens team their own home ground.

They're currently building new facilities for the Academy on the site, so I'd imagine there's a long term future there. The site wasn't originally intended for the First Team anyway.
