They better sort the bogs out if it’s Shippo’s.
In the old days that advice was dependent on which Shippos pub you drank in. Its cask-conditioned bitter or mild in places like The Falcon at Canning Circus, or The Golden Fleece on Mansfield Road matched any modern-day award-winning cask ale. The dodgy stuff was almost always draught-delivered in pubs where the staff didn't know how to keep it.

Anyway, apologies for digressing......

I understand the sentiment, I walk over Lady Bay by exiting at the back of the Bridgeford to avoid those steps.

Im not sure the club could just put extra steps or lighting in though, its not their land for a start. Also the bottleneck outside the Southbank, is that down to the club and how on earth could that ever be reduced?
Oh, I agree totally. It needs all agencies to get together and work through the problems. It just seems that no-body cares. If we are serious about offering a premium product, then services have to match.

I would hate one of the burger vans to catch fire whilst thousands are leaving a match.

Lady Bay Bridge exit is not much better either. Narrow metal steps, again largely in darkness, and often wet is just asking for trouble.
When it rains, you've got a choice of treading water with your phone light in front of you or you can chance the mud steps that our fans have crudely warn into the side of the bank there. Just watch out for stray branches, nearly got caught in the face by one on Saturday haha.

There shouldn't be any question about the local authority's responsibility for improving and maintaining Trent Bridge and Lady Bay Bridge accessways.

Think the local authority went bust Otis. Half tempted to go down there with some garden cutters and a spade LOL

It's south of the river so in Notts and thus the responsibility of Notts as opposed to Nottm councils, Notts subcontract all the road repairs and stuff out to via which is why most of them are covered in potholes.

When the new footbridge over the river just down stream from Lady Bay Bridge goes in ( its currently in for planning) it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect an upgrade to its adjacent access paths. If that doesn't happen I would further question Rushcliffe Borough Councils commitment to maintaining a safe environment to one of its biggest cash cows, Nottingham Forest Football Club.

Probably the same as the prom from Mabo to Sutton, local council arguing with environmental department who's job it is to shift the sand that's covering it.
I'll be cycling to the vets via the main road today because the prom isn't navigable.

I've previously made the point about access and egress at the WFCG a few times, and it's not always been well received by some. The fact remains that the current arrangements on Trentside North, access up to Lady Bay Bridge, and behind the BC/Bridgford are neither acceptable nor safe. Who pays for upgrades? A 'partnership' approach is needed rather than one party trying to get the other to pay, although I do have immense sympathy with local authorities because of the current funding nonsense being imposed by central government.

Going forward, Forest have permission to increase the stadium capacity to 35,000 with a rebuild of the PT. I note that improvements to the pinch points referenced above are not conditions of that permission. After that, if Forest want to increase capacity further, which I think they will want to do, then the access and egress suites will be to the fore again, only more so.

The pedestrian and cycle bridge from Lady Bay to Colwick basin will help a bit on that side, and improved steps and lighting up to the Lady Bay Bridge walkway is not a huge exercise to complete. Problems remain at the Trent Bridge itself, the flood arches underneath (which are used by many but have uneven floors and are not lit), behind the Bridgford, and on it goes.

Is there are solution? There is, but the WFCG will never be the easiest place to get away from. Is there a plan? It appears not. These issues must be resolved though, and I'd be content for now to hear that Forest are 'considering options'.

I admire your community spirit Dizz, but given both locations, shouldn't the responsibility be with Rushcliffe BC?
No.

In a Unitary authority like Nottingham City Council, they take some responsibilities from the County Council.

But district and borough councils have a much smaller set of responsibilities and the County Council is responsible for a lot of things including transport and highways.

Edit: here''s a table for comparison, Notts County Council is non-metropolitan county, RBC is non-metropolitan district & Nottm City Council is a Unitary authority

I appreciate that confirmation concerning council obligations Red, but I still ask why the City Council should be responsible for issues beyond its boundary, such as the steps on the Rushcliffe side of Lady Bay Bridge. Please excuse my ignorance, but that table clearly points to it being the responsibility of Ben Bradley's mob at County Hall, likewise the accessway under that side of Trent Bridge.

I was only responding to your question about RBC.

Forest should build up some trebuchets in the car parks behind each stand, to enable supporters leaving the ground to be quickly and easily catapulted across the Trent, avoiding the infamous „pinch points“.

As an added bonus, the bodies will land in the jurisdiction of Nottingham City Council, so they can then pick up the pieces (literally).

I tell you, it’s a doddle, this architect lark.

Could this be something to do with historic boundary and land ownership issues which sees the land on which the CG is built owned by Nottm City Council, even though it's located in WB. Does the City own the Riverside too, hence why the County Council say they won't fix it?

Or even a tunnel under the Trent, opening next to the station! What a pleasant prospect.

Seriously, the WFCG is always going to be hard to get away from. So .....

facilities to encourage people to stay awhile after the game, to ease congestion
a rejig of the approach to Trent Bridge from Trentside North (no doubt the historical society will object to any alterations to TB itself)
sort out the walkways under TB with paving and lighting (there will be times when these are not useable, as we have experienced recently)
wider steps and lights up to LBBridge
paved pathway and lights under LBB and along to the new pedestrian and cycle bridge
back of the Bridgford ... big tidy up, sort out the trip hazards, remove the dead rats (seriously) and the live ones, better lighting

All of that could be done although it would still be a difficult ground to get away from, but it would be a lot better and safer.
