What's the current hold up on the PT stand then? All parties have been worryingly quiet for some time now.

Even if it gets approved tomorrow I am pretty sure Randall said in an interview a month or so ago that if we went up any renovations would have to be put on hold for a few seasons because of a) they want as many people in as possible to start with, b) the results are effected by lack of crowd & c) logistical issues - where do you put press areas whilst renovation is going on, etc.

The damage has been done by whichever party dilly dallied during covid - should have been done then (with hindsight).

My understanding of the Randall interview was that he said this season(not several seasons).
IF we get permission I feel we should proceed at the end of season regardless of which division we are in-
there is never a perfect time to close a stand but it badly needs doing so that the club can move forward.

Yes I agree, we can't put it off any longer. This last season has shown that.

They got planning permission in 2018 and it won't be fully open until next year!
Fulham first applied for Planning Permission in 2011. It was granted in 2013 with stipulations about the delivery of the work plan. That took until 2018 for Hammersmith and Fulham to approve the work package. It's 2022.

At that rate, I'd probably be able to get a senior citizen's ticket for the new stand when it opens

No, I think Rushcliffe council should pull their fingers out their arse and get on with it.
It isn’t so much Rushcliffe Council itself, the problem is the council‘s woefully-underfunded planning department has faced a veritable blizzard of complaints about the proposed development, including a well-orchestrated campaign by one of the stadium‘s very near neighbours, who are apparently trying to screw money out of the club and just make a bloody nuisance of themselves, despite doing very nicely thank you from Forest supporters who use their facilities on matchdays.

On top of that, you have the Borough Council and Nottingham City Council trying to get the football club to fund significant road and transport upgrades, and even at one stage were trying to get the club to fund an entire additional pedestrian/cycle crossing over the Trent (something both councils have wanted for years, but have been unable to find some mug to pay for).

In addition, the West Bridgford branch of the NIMBY Society is also very active in protesting about absolutely anything that affects their Manor, including extra traffic, noise, more football fans polluting their streets, and similar such bollocks.

And of course, every single one of these whinges has to be catalogued, discussed, reviewed, a decision made and then communicated to the originator, who can then of course appeal that or otherwise contest it.

This is unfortunately the way planning works in the U.K., especially for proposed major projects like this, it is very easy for a concentrated campaign to foul-up the planning process for years, and that cannot easily be speeded up (once a decision is made of course, an appeal can be made to the government planning inspector, who can effectively veto any decision the council makes, should they choose to do so - one other alternative is the Secretary of State for the Environment can „call in“ the decision and effectively over-rule everybody - including the whingers - which is exactly what John Prescott did, for Brighton & Hove Albion‘s new stadium at Falmer, which had also reached something of a planning impasse).

As Forest moved to the City Ground in 1898 my guess would be there aren't many residents who were there before then. Move next to a football ground and take the consequences.

This falls into the same bracket as those that move near to a school or into a rural setting and complain about the noise, smell and disgusting creatures. That's just the school scenario.

Is Hammersmith Bridge still closed?
Tbf it is old and falling apart, I walked across it about 8/9 years ago and it felt a bit dodgy then, so wouldn't be too surprised...

So they are wrapping it in tin foil now to stop it collapsing in the heat...

And yes, open to cyclists and peds only now.

In reference to the thread title, someone has asked this question on the Saddie forum......

"Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that many Forest fans have recently started referring to the red tip as the 'World Famous City Ground'. Does anyone know if there is a specific reason this has recently taken root? Is it some kind of naff club marketing guff? Curious."
