Reluctant to dip my toe in this, but maybe we can all learn a bit from the old thread when it comes to diplomacy.
For what its worth, much like Dougie in some ways, the decent job Karanka has done so far has been diluted by the undercurrent of ill feeling, in time I'm convinced he'll win folk over.
Like Alf says, he comes across a decent fella, gets the history & speaks like he means business. Recruitment has been on point, he's working back to front, putting the foundations & disciplines in to next seasons push.
His football will probably remain divisive, that said, definitely don't think he's showed his attacking hand yet. Theres more to come there.
Ultimately we've been lucky on this one, managers of his pedigree dont always chose midchampionship, lets make it count.

Regardless of what folk think of AK, as has been the case in the past, I think that any change in the near future would hurt us more than help us, and also take us back into the Farce-waz realms of not having anyone want to touch us too.
One of the biggest & outright wrong claims in recent years is that Pearce shouldn't have been appointed manager here. Those who claim it seem to totally forget how managers were rejecting us left, right & centre at the time. We need to avoid that happening again.

He’s been able to bring in some very good players. Lolley & Tobias look like real prospects. Watson is just what we needed.
It will be interesting to see who he can bring in over the summer- assuming he’s still here.

Pleased he's here and I think he's made the right changes. Looking forward to the summer where hopefully he can bring in a striker or two and put together a team that can be a consistent threat to the top 6 next season.

Viva Karanka.
Enjoying the solidity he's bringing. Looks like he's really big on the team/togetherness/positivity outlook.
Hoping he can further strengthen in the summer. Ideally with some outright pace/drive. 1 wide man with pure pace and direct running and I think we could become a very exciting counter-attacking team.
Hope he can build on what he's brought so far, if he does, we could have a real shot at being relevant next year.

I was delighted that the club were able to get a manager of his quality. He seems like someone who gets things done, which is a big plus. The team is now looking more resilient and difficult to beat, and hopefully this will continue between now and May. It feels like there are firm foundations being put in place to build on during the summer.

The striker situation is key, the ball not sticking up top looks to be a major contributor to our impotence going forward. With them lads sitting a bit deeper, we need someone to deal with the higher ball in & keep it occupied until support arrives.
Still leaning towards a Jordan Rhodes/Leon Clarke/Rudy Gestede type.

I don't see Rhodes as someone who holds the ball up, or has the mobility to work the channel if we're under pressure and need someone to occupy the defence.
He's a goalscorer, pure and simple. Which is all well and good, but if we're going to 1 up top, we need more than that.
If we're going to defend a lot better and keep clean sheets, it doesn't have to be a 25+ goal scorer. Just someone who holds it up, brings others into play, has the mobility to work the channels, and when it is out wide, he attacks the box every single time, because too often it goes through the box with no-one attacking it.
I would have said Benik Afobe as he wasn't getting a look in at Bournemouth, but seems Wolves will have him back.
Someone mentioned Nelson Oliveira, he ticks a lot of the boxes, except attacking the box, he does all his work outside the box.
Someone who I really like, although he's had a tough time recently in the Prem, but he has a hunger still, works really hard, has lots of pace, gets in behind and is decent in the air too, is Shane Long. I know he's not scored much in the Prem, last time around in the Championship I think he scored quite a few. Prem is a different ball game, but I think he can lead a line at this level.
Really think he's well rounded and would suit our game perfectly.

Shame Long likewise, whats he worth? 8 Million, bit unsure as to whether he's proficient as a one.

Its work rate though, he's in the shit at Norwich for shirking in training & he did have a tendency to chuck the toys out with us when things werent going his way. I aint sure his temperament fits with Karankas.

That's my fear re: Nelson too. If he can't handle not being the main man regardless of whether he deserves it, not sure he'll fit under AK.
Long's contract runs out in Summer 2020, So 2 years from now, he rarely starts for Southampton, and they'll have another new manager soon. I reckon he'd be a fair bit less than the big fee they paid 4 years ago. Who knows, i'm just speculating anyhow. He's just someone I see and think he has something about him, and in the right circumstances, I think he'd be a success. He has most his appearances off the bench for Southampton.
We may well go abroad.

Someone like Aleksandar Mitrović would be ideal as a lone striker for us. Not only has an eye for goal, but importantly he would help the three forwards behind by holding on to the ball and linking up attacks.

Absolutely bang on. He's been horribly mismanaged by Newcastle. Although he hasn't helped himself completely by occasionally trying to take people's heads off. Looks a fit for Fulham. His scoring record is fantastic for someone who brings a lot more than goals to a team.
Question is, who's available like him? And I guess the biggest battle is finding that person who isn't a complete no-show in front of goal, and it's a fine line between beast and donkey in that type of player.

Id be more inclined to focus on his abilities with back to goal, getting everyone involved, goals would obviously be a bonus.
Maybe rule Rhodes out on that premise, he seems to spend alot of time out the game, just pops up to score goals.

Really tough to know how Karanka will want it, the quicker and hard working "finisher" operated on one of the wings at Boro: Bamford and Stuani. The centre forwards were fairly similar as well: Kike, Rhodes, Nugent, Vossen & Negredo all-round strikers not especially noted for any of their attributes but good enough number 9s

Seeing those names, looks like he goes for two types, people who can brings others in to play, and people who have a reputation for putting it in the net. Nugent and Negredo the first type, Rhodes and Vossen the latter. I really don't remember much about Kike at all.

Karanka's made a good enough start. I'm content.
Of all the managers we've ever had, he's the only one called Aitor. At time of going to press, that's his standing in the history of Nottingham Forest Football Club. In time, maybe he'll improve on that.
