The Joe Lolley Retirement

Re: Joe Lolley deserves a good ball-cupping

AK knocked his confidence with a few comments. Hauled him off at ht one game. Even had a dig at his performance away at Derby, even after he caufht fire late in the game.

Back to his best last night. Him, Colback and Murphy were pivotal with everthing that won us that game.

Defence solid. Defence started from the front

What classifies as a "succesful dribble" I have no idea but this is incredibly telling. Miles ahead of others in the League. I love his direct and fearless running style.

Let's buy Benrahma and put him on the other flank. We love a North African.

I don't wanna be too critical seeing as our lad is at the top but that's a bit of a BS list isn't it? What constitutes a dribble? And what if said dribble produced nothing?

Taking on an opponent and successfully making it past them whilst retaining the ball

And what if said dribble produced nothing?

A dribble is an 'event' of itself when recording data like this. The same as a shot, pass, etc.

Stats on 'producing' something - would be assists, key passes, chances created, xA, etc.

To be fair I've seen for myself how good Joe is at doing that so I'm really not surprised those stats back it up

He goes past people like I go past the salad at a buffet.

He goes past people like me heading towards the Bier bar on a Friday after work.

Joe Lolley deserves a good ball-cupping

He goes past people like me down the ‘Tag Lane only’ on the M6 toll on a Friday afternoon.

Love doing that. Should put it in the simple pleasures thread I think.

It’s like your own personal racetrack generally. And I once saw Huckerby in the services so there’s that too.

Lots of roadworks on the M6 and I was on the way to Molyneux from my hide out in the East, so I decided to use the Toll. It was brilliant and brought me out at a convenient spot to drop down into Wolverhampton.

Re: Joe Lolley deserves a good ball-cupping

In the euphoria of the win the most important question hasn't been asked?

How was the technique of our new penalty taker?

Calm finish to send the 'keeper the wrong way.

He's much more likely to use his body to fool the 'keeper than pick a spot and put it there firmly.

Absolutely faked out the goalie and sent him the wrong way. Gives him the eyes and bamboozled him completely.

Then a firm strike into the bottom corner.

Best player in the league.

You’ll brook no argument from me on that point.

Certainty for Forest PotY without doubt for his consistency and goals alone, and he should be also in the Team of the Season for the Championship too, as - IMHO - there isn’t a better winger in the division.

Ignoring young potential (like Clarke at Leeds, as he could go on to be a special player and loans, as Wilson/Murphy are probably players who can impact games in a similar special moment type way) I think the only one who can hold a candle is Matt Phillips at WBA. Very different player though, but also damn effective.
