The Joe Lolley Retirement

Re: Joe Lolley deserves a good ball-cupping

He looks injured. Last few home games he's been having problems with it.

Definitely playing through an injury - probably playing through it due to his previous form. 12 days until the next league game, put him on ice.

This all over. Again, squad depth needs addressing.

I think it's a combination of things. Fatigue, carrying a knock, dip in form (from a very high level) and teams working out how to manage him. It's up to him to find a way to counteract that.

Yeah I agree. The talk of crazy bids has also been unnecessary. But really happy with his tweet last night. He is a proper genuine bloke.

I think he had issues with shin splints earlier on in his career, not sure that kind of thing really goes away tbh...

Was gonna post a new thread called KARANKA SACK and then say on the first post how much I thought Aitor also deserved a good ball cupping.
But I didn't fancy the ban.

Should have been subbed at HT , Clearly injured, One of my gripes the time it takes to make subs.
We need to be brave and take the games to the opposition.

Yes was limping around 20 minutes, still tried hard but his legs looked heavy. Definitely needs a rest.

We had a ready made replacement on the bench in Arvin but choose not to use him.
Leeds gambled on a young player and it paid off, I wish we would do the same.

Ready made? Would be mad to throw him in there with so much defensively responsibility against the best team in the league.

He would have been fine, Leeds did the exact same thing and he scored a goal.
Lolly offered nothing defensively all game.
I wish we would take the game to the opposition rather than worrying about them.

Hold on.

We put Osborn on, who assisted two and scored one and almost single handedly just kept Aitor in his job.

The right sub was made, even if it took a little too long to be made.

Lolley was limping from around 10/15 minutes in, had treatment a couple of times as well. I reckon he'd have gone off had we not already lost Hefele.

It was the length of time it took rather than the person, But still think Arvin would have been a good sub to run at them for 45 minutes, We will never know now and Benny did very well during his time on the pitch.

Think that all the off field stuff affected him as he was quite possibly one of the few Karanka purchases.

I somehow doubt that Watson, Pantillimon, Geudioura, Hefele, Robinson & Grabban were forced onto Karanka via Jorge Mendes.

*spelling may be incorrect on a couple of the above

His drop in form seemed to coincide with the Ipswich game when Karanka was annoyed

Would assume he saw Karanka face to face to say his goodbyes?
Seems logical.

Maybe not Mendes but Vrentos and the rest of EMs backroom staff, who as we know are choosing players (whether they are forced on the manager is debatable).
