The Great Nottingham Forest Injury Crisis

It's important we don't lose Elanga to injury, he is putting in a mega shift at the minute & if CHO isn't available he is our only ball carrier going into this winter period. We have seen in the last couple of games where there is no alternative to him on the bench at the minute. Another winger would be my main priority in Jan.

Sancho! (Unlikely but you never know!)

Nice to see Danilo back on the pitch today and Taiwo get through (hopefully) unscathed. Tavares been on the bench the last two as well, so just waiting on Felipe, Wood, Origi and Hudson Odoi now?

Hopefully at least a couple of those will be back after the international break...

You say unlikely but I could definitely see it happening.
I think more likely Ten Hag will be sacked prior to that window unfortunately - said before the Cooper connection could help land the player, though he'd cost us.

We thought lingard was unlikely, then navas… over to the big fella (glad he was at the game today, he deserves some good days for what he’s done for us)

Agreed.

We went into the season looking short on wide options but I suspect that was probably because we were expecting to play with wing backs again.

January winger or two a must, probably another striker of Awoniyi mould too.

Think you’re spot on with this - the number of centre-backs and full-backs in our 25 definitely looks like a squad setting out to play a back 3/5.

I think the Elanga purchase was with the intention of him replacing Johnson in that split striker role in a wing back formation.

And then when it was clear we were getting Sangare and Dominguez (who the club did some serious f***ing research on bravo) then the option, potential desire, to play a more considered game with width was on the table, but it was too late in the day to do anything beyond Hudson-Odoi who we'd been keeping an eye on for a while given no one else was touching him with a barge pole.

Ideally in January I think we'd send Santos back to Chelsea and Origi back to Milan if that's even possible, and replace for wide players on loan (Sancho, Smith-Rowe might be available) and buy a new forward who can compete with Taiwo.

Good thinking. Need to get that Sancho offer confirmed now though to take his headache away before Utd's manager is sacked and Sancho has a clean slate.

Financially however, him returning to Dortmund makes the most sense financially for both clubs as Simon Jordan stated last week.

Anyone would think players were being forced to play longer and longer per game, or something crazy like that…. 🙄
...and at a faster pace... and made to stretch to a ridiculous extent to make tackles...
Mind you, they are playing on manicured lawns, not potato fields.
I think it is becuase they haven't had to do 2-years National Service to toughen 'em up.

Playing in ankle deep mud strengthens the muscles and tendons. These days there's nothing to toughen up the leg muscles, the studs grip and whoops, the tendon has gone.

Well heading into the Winter more games AFCON The new improved medical/fitness team are going to earn their money.

Cut out any silly celebrations sliding on your knees or your backside..I swear that contributed to Hendersons injury last season.

Wouldn't worry about Taiwo or Niakhate getting injured at the AFCON. They'll be injured here first and will miss the tournament anyway.
How would that actually work if one of them was injured like a week before AFCON (meaning they would be back a week after it started :D) and then they didn't go to the tournament but were fit for any matches we had?

I'm assuming that they would probably be barred from playing for the club until they would have been eligible anyway as otherwise clubs would just pull players out claiming they were injured?

They'll be assessed by the national team's own medical team and then it's up to them to decide if they're worth a squad place. If they decide against calling them up then that's on them.

In the event a national team says a player is fit and a club disagrees and refuses to release them, it apparently goes to a FIFA panel to arbitrate (whatever that means). However, that will almost never happen, as if the player wants to go / not go he can just play up to that effect in any clinical examination.
