The European Football thread!

I don't really know where to post this so maybe here,

I was just watching our 2-0 win over Liverpool in 1978 European Cup first leg, way way before my time,

Was interesting to hear "Come on youuuuu redssss" and "woah woah we are the forest boys, woah we are the forest boys",

Got me thinking, a question for the older generation, which chants have made it through to the modern day? Are there any more that we used to sing back in the day that have stuck?

Come on Inter please beat this bunch of despicable state owned sportswashing FFP breaching tosspots

If only to keep another English team's name off the trophy & also to spear us days of constant media noshing off of Pep

Ideal world, Inter win the most boring 0-0 ever on penalties & it pisses down with rain

God no. I’ve got to work with some of those inter fans and they’re unbearable. I’ve heard nothing but how Acerbi might surprise a few folk and shithouse Haaland all night.

Man City everyday for me, it would piss off Man United & Liverpool supporters. Plus they are very very good.
I'm in the same boat... all you hear from united is about how good they are, their divine right to be up their when in truth when I started watching football they were a cup side.

The thing they have always had on city is the treble, well not after tonight.

I suppose there is a positive in City winning in as much as it will piss Man U fans off which is never a bad thing
and the bonus being you can chuck Liverpool in with that too. Saying that I don’t think their fans have been too bad towards us this year. If anything it’s Man Utd who have irritated me more.

That's where I am. I'm not really arsed about the FFP thing either as it was only brought in to stifle competition anyway (which is why fans of clubs like Man United whine about it so much).

Man City are the best team in the world right now and deserve to win it.

FFP keeps the top clubs the top clubs on that basis I don’t agree with it. City are lucky they got in and spent and spent and spent to join the elite while it was still aloud. Even if they have perhaps breached a 100 or so rules to do so!!!

Now FFP is sort of a thing in England I say sort of because the Premier League never do anything about rule breaks. Look at the New Newcastle sponsorship deal if that gets passed as legit then I think they need to just stop pretending FFP is even a thing. All the top teams are just as bad as each other even in Spain they just find ways to hide it.

I think City will win now if they turn up and play close to their best it could even be a bit of a hammering for Inter. I am not that bothered to be honest just be nice to see a good game but it would but funny if Inter won just cause of how much money City have spent to try and win this competition if they lost again. A bit like PSG keep spending insane amounts of money only to be denied.

Difference between City and PSG is City play a game every week whereas PSG only play decent opponents in March.

If you're not arsed about FFP Ash then what would your thoughts have been if Forest had gone down while FFP compliant but Everton stayed up while breaching FFP

City just to piss off manure. Their fans really got on my bits during the 4 games this year. Entitled fans, arsehole owners and a team full of players you‘d never tire of twatting!

Manchester City deserve it. I've tried to hate them and Pep but I just can't do it. Even with the money, he improves players and turns them into winners. What he's done with Grealish being a prime example.

And John Stones, who now looks somehow like the second coming of Franz Beckenbauer.

It is one thing being handed millions and spending it on anyone you fancy - hello Chelsea - but what marks Pep out is his actual ability as a Coach, to take players and improve them, radically in some cases.

Kyle Walker is 33. He's had a great career but he's probably playing his best season. Pep.

You can reel off their entire squad really.

Every player to play under him will have their prime years under him - doesn't matter at what stage in their career they play under him.

I am just thinking of two clear examples off the top of my head in Sterling & Sane. They have both looked pretty bog standard before and after Pep. I bet Cancelo will go the same way.

FFP breaches or not, Everton are a poor side who were managed by Frank Lampard for over half a season. We'd also have had 38 games to finish above three other teams. IMO, if we finished in the bottom three we deserved to go down regardless of whatever happens to Everton.
