Dortmund's win last night confirmed that the Premier League will miss out on the 5th Champions League spot due to coefficient scores or something like that.

Thursday nights to Moldova for Spurs then 😆

You just know Richard Masters will be pissed off about the damage to the 'brand'. Brilliant.

As well as confirming the additional spot for the Bundesliga, it also means that VfB Stuttgart will be in the „Champions“ League next season, as the team currently in sixth - Eintracht Frankfurt - cannot catch them (as the gap is currently 19 points, with only three rounds of matches remaining).

Germany might yet gain another place of course, should Dortmund actually win the European Cup for the second time, they’d go into the draw as holders.

Bayern News: Ralf Rangnick will apparently not now be the new coach of FC Bayern, as successor of Thomas Tuchel.

His name had been widely mooted, and an approach had been made to the Austrian FA, where Rangnick is currently coaching the Austrian side, to release him, but this morning, the ÖFB has posted that Rangnick will remain with them, post-Euro 2024.

Back to the drawing-board for Bayern then, in their search for a new trainer. Xabi Alonso stays at Leverkusen, Julian Nagelsmann with continue with the DFB as Bundestrainer, and apparently even Hans-Dieter Flick wasn’t interested.

Tuchel has also said he won’t continue, despite a healthy number of Bayern fans backing him (and given the rather inglorious manner in which he was given the push, who can blame him?)

Finished in big club football, imho. Can't see anyone with a modern view of the game and realistic chance of winning stiff going for him.

Jose is holding out for the Portuguese national job, because - fair play to him - he has absolutely nothing to prove in club football.

Bayern are shitting themselves because they currently don’t have a trainer for next season, and their first three choices have blown them off, as have the last three who they’ve prematurely sacked.

They were so confident of landing Xabi Alonso, and that has not worked out for them.

Goals from Bayer Leverkusen players this season (not updated after tonight)

7 defenders on the list. 2 of their top 4 scorers are defenders. Just shows you how free-flowing they are and the importance of their wing-backs.

Tonight from the 2.Bundesliga we have a real banger for you from the Volksparkstadion; it’s the Hamburger Stadtderby, Hamburger SV against FC St. Pauli, two sides from completely opposite ends of the social spectrum who really have absolutely zero love for one another.

As well as local bragging rights of course, there is some real meaning to this one, with St. Pauli currently topping the table, and Hamburg in fourth.

1730UK time is the kick off, bring popcorn, because there will be fireworks.

VfB Stuttgart News: the club have just now announced that they now have 100.000 fully paid-up members, for the first time in their history. A mere few months after reaching 90.000, they’ve now topped six figures.

In the week the club secured a return to the „Champions“ League, this just continues the feel-good factor down by the Neckar.

I think its a big case of the way they've treated their last few head coaches has come back to haunt them.
Yes, Bayern is a club that will interest any coach, but, would they be willing to give up what they're currently doing, for a job that may be gone within 6 months if things don't go right?

I know theres been changes within the club hierarchy in the last year or so, but, it remains to be seen whether they have any real effect.

Are these paid up members all guaranteed tickets?

Capacity of the recently redeveloped MHP Arena is a smudge over 60.000, so, no.

The VfB have sold out every ticket for the home sections of every game they’ve played this season (those that did not fully sell out were where the visiting side did not fulfil its allocation).

However, because of how membership works, those 100.000 effectively „own“ the club, and have a genuine say in its running, which is nice.

Just a load of plastics heading for the success! Joking aside, good to see St Pauli at the top of Div 2, hope they pull off promotion.
