The demise of Leicester City

One more observation. The poster who said Tottenham...I really don't think so.

Depreciation of Fixed Assets is excludable from FFP as well as all the other stuff (Youth, Community etc).

Posted a pre tax loss of The below but Depreciation below.View attachment 36672View attachment 36673
Essentially from Depreciation alone for the most recent accounts released they are +£11m before we even look at Cat 1 Academy, Community etc.

Can add that to the rolling 3 Year Loss Limit...I believe they have or have had masses of Headroom but time will tell.
I couldn’t imagine Tottenham. I think they are one who have been the way they are with levy with a view to taking advantage further down the line as other clubs sail close to the wind.

I’m heartbroken at the news Leicester are in the barrel, but Im sure they’ll be magnanimous and very accepting of the situation and I’ll be offering my full support to their fan base as they have us.

Honest.

Seems Leicester have picked up our anti-competitive baton and are running with it.

The best thing to come out of this mess is our formal statement which really was impressively put together. It’s having an effect and driving, in my opinion, the correct narrative.

Leicester went after the EFL at the beginning of the season and won.

They out right called the EFL's actions illegal and have been quite aggressive in their stance. I actually think clubs should join together to push the anti-competition issue.

Did they win?

All the succeeded in was saying itvwas against the EFL ffp rules to require a business plan that had information from a previous season when they were in the EPL.

It does not challenge the FFP principles in anyway. They are still subject to FFP.

They used a loophole, in a badly written clause in the rules, to avoid passing commercially sensitive info to the league.

One step. Looks like it emboldened them to start even more proceedings.

They won, as the EFL had to recant their demand.

In summary it looks as if Leicester's defence is that the EFL can't punish them for last year as they were in the EPL and that the EPL can't punish them because they are in the EFL.

Masterful!
I think they’re adopting the Manchester City,Chelsea and Everton ‘kick the can down the road’ manual.

What we need is Leicester to argue the toss and push back time after time, it will only make it worse In the long run for them.

Who is next?

I bet it isn‘t either Manchester City or Chelsea!

It'll be Villa. They're dangerously close to breaking in to the top four and the PL won't stand for that.

Could be.

The PL will probably whip-up a mob of Gammon-faced Brexiters to descend on Villa Park and attempt to tar and feather Unai Emery, on account of him being one of them there forrins.

And all the while, they have singularly failed to reign-in Chelsea (who were profligate spenders under Abramovich, and there are allegations of illegal, under-the-counter monies paid by deceptive means) and Manchester City (who have the resources of an entire nation-state to call on, and allegedly artificially-inflated commercial revenue).

It does become harder and harder to defend allegations of wholesale corruption against the Premier League, and thus question any sporting integrity the completion actually has, any more.

I mean if you want fairness and balance to go out the window and become the footballing equivalent of WWE Wrestling, then that‘s one thing, but this is supposed to be an equitable competition, and it no longer is, because newly-promoted clubs and those „mid-table“ sides cannot compete financially, and when the best you can maybe hope for is finishing 15th-17th and then having another year on the gravy train before your best players get picked-off again, what‘s the f***ing point?
The VAR decisions against Forest start to look more deliberate as well don't they?

Keep a club with ideas above it's station held down...

Just a small point on the Embargo.

It doesn't just prevent new additions, it.can also prevent registration of new contracts etc. Up to the League basically.

I wonder if the EFL will press on and refer to the CFRP this season in any case. Technically a breach of EFL Rule 2.10.1 dictates that this should occur.

Whether it is an Embargo of Professional Standing ie the Derby one or a more routine Established Player one is again unclear.

There is even an argument that they would be dutybound to refer this present season. Almost no journalists have mentioned this but it follows in so far as the Rules do.

There are probably some more specialised legal people on here..does shall be treated and accordingly shall refer mean that the EFL have to pretty much follow their own Procedure(s) and Rules?

Here's a question. Can Leicester be accused as gaining a sporting advantage by the PL as they got relegated? Obviously it can be construed as such from an EFL perspective but by the PL it begs the question.
