........looks like it's starting to thin-out a bit now with Cummings and Traore agreeing to move on.

I expect there'll be more movement during the last week of the window when clubs start to get a bit desperate - although that's assuming Mancienne, McKay, Ward, Vellios and Clough actually have the desire to play some football during the coming season rather than sitting tight here?

You just want them to show some ambition and not be right about the worst case scenario in their intentions of being at the club.

Mancienne: sell to a Turkish club, they have money.
McKay: loan out to a club where he'll find playing time and score goals; then next year sell him anywhere.
Ward: convince a League One club to get him for free; yes, his wages are too high, but they can amortize it over a couple of years.
Vellios: loan out to Cyprus, with an affordable for the Cypriots option to buy.
Clough: sell to a League One club.
Henderson: release.
Ariyibi: send to Mansfield Town for free but with a hefty resale clause, just in case.
Evtimov: release.
Lam: released.

Clough should be in league 1 like Cummings and Grant. Players who have a good season there are worth a few million now.

McKay a championship loan to a decent team, again a good season and he's worth a few million again.

The rest need to be let go with as little cost to the club as possible.

Probably more likely to leave towards the end of the transfer window. With the relatively high wages we pay i can't see how a club, who would be bettered by their ability, could afford most of them and i doubt they'd be anyones first choice either. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few leave deadline day and the rest released after january window if there's noone desperate enough to take them then.

Lam is staying, bud. My guy fighting for a place in this sqaud. He cares about his career, not like these other free loaders.

I can't wait until we actually have everything in place as a club to try & make something of what we have, instead of continously cycling players.

AK has assembled a squad with 90% of players he wanted in place and they're now getting to know each other. A few more additions and hopefully we're set.

Surprisingly little business done by other teams so far with a shortened window.

There’ll be plenty of panic buying on deadline day, when disorganised clubs will miss out on their main target and have to rapidly find someone else. That’s when players with a “name” or reputation, like Mancienne and Clough will move on I reckon.

It’s nice to be in this position for once though, with nearly all the targets secured and just waiting and watching to see if a “no-brainer” becomes available.

3 involved with the 23s today

Ariyibi, Clough & Vellios. Last 2 were supposedly crap. Once hooked we scored our goals.

Dimi Evtimov - No links
Stephen Henderson - No links
Michael Mancienne - Turned down Rizaspor
Barrie McKay - Turned down Olympiacos - Linked to Reading
Zach Clough - tenuous link to QPR
Jamie Ward - No links
Gboly Ariyibi - No links
Apostolos Vellios - Allegedly turned down moves to Greece, links to APOEL

Possible:

Stefanos Kapino - rumoured to be released
Thomas Lam - getting a chance, but be surprised if he sticks around
Ryan Yates - possible loan out to Rotherham

Bit worrying that we've not really heard much about some of them, especially as there is no chance most of them will even get a look.

Can see some getting contracts terminated on eve of the transfer window. Hopefully the last few days when it picks up and teams get desperate, we'll see some movement.
Wouldn't be surprised if Ward ends up on loan at Burton again.

I think we will see a very busy deadline day, as that's when everybody else does their business and people get desperate for scraps.

Not sure why Kapino would be released, a loan would be more suitable if Karanka sees Smith as no.2, and vice versa. May as well loan Lam out too, he's out of contract in the summer.

I think the only ones that would get released would be Evtimov, Henderson or Ward. The rest it's about being patient with.

Mancienne could still do a job as a squad player.

I remember the excitement when Clough signed - he looked properly good at Bolton. I still think he has the potential, but he just doesn't look interested.

I think Mancienne is probably behind Daws, Toby, Worrall & Fox. No point keeping him as a squad player to be 5th choice, he's probably on 10k plus p/w.

I thought Clough was a top signing, there's a chance we thought watching a player run through us actually made him a good player, when running through us was actually something most players did.

As for Mancienne, I think he's shot to be honest. Dont fancy watching anymore of him from behind my seat.
