The Anton and Rio instances of being w-----s thread

I don't agree. Players will always have reasons not to shake hands. The more attention seeking ones will be especially drawn to doing this, as they know that this will become the focus rather than the game.
Wenger often refuses to shake hands with the opposition manager after a game. Because it's after the game and not before there isn't this big soap opera build up. Leave the hand shaking until after the game.

It's all about mid-table...
Anton & Rio are a pair of attention seeking, shit raking *****!

John Terry is a horrible pikey tramp

The pre-match handshake is a stupid idea anyway dreamt up by some clueless prick and none of the self obsessed twats shake hands properly anyway so it's just a waste of everybodies time.

This

What does the pre-match handshake achieve ? absolutley f*** all, they don't even shake hands anyaway, they just line up and touch hands as they walk past. I don't see why the FA just don't put a stop to this f***ing nonsense.
I see that even JSP managed to get in on the act too, just to stir up a bit more shit.

I think its an attempt to set an example to kids/idiots watching- that it is just a game and it should be played in a friendly spirit.

Obviously that goes to shit when stuff like this and that prat Suarez happens

I do think that the handshakes before the game has just become a duty that the players have to do rather than actually fostering any true respect and sportsmenship. The end of game handshakes and embraces however often have true meaning and it can be good to see and often shows the respect players and managers have for each other despite their rivalries.

I think with Cole he played 'deaf n dumb' claiming he heard no abuse, when he was a few feet away. S

The court couldn't prove that John Terry had racially abused Anton Ferdinand. Which would always be the case if it's one person's word against another's. It didn't prove that John Terry isn't a racist.

Whatever actually happened, Anton clearly believes that the abuse from John Terry was racial, and feels strongly enough not to shake his hand. That's his choice.

Ah but isnt the key, that Ferdinand didnt actually hear it himself? In his own words, he shook John Terrys hand after the match, they spoke about it and that was end of it.

It was only after his Mrs showed him the clip on youtube or somewhere, that he decided he thought John Terry had racially insulted him.

So Anton Ferdinand is basing it off the same thing we all are. Some footage that wasnt entirely conclusive.

So to be furious with Ashley Cole, when he himself isnt sure what John Terry said is pretty appalling.

But a Trial in court is surely the best way to decide whether or not someone is guilty or not? I am not saying that wrong verdicts are not sometimes reached I am sure they are but since I was not there and didn't hear anything I can't say and I think more importantly nobody including the victim can say anything that would mean the verdict would have been different.

What annoys me so much about this is this was all based on a youtube clip. Anton Ferdinand saw something on youtube and decided that he was racially abused. He came out of that game shook Terrys hand and said he didn't feel he was racially abused. I know it is Ashley Cole but I also cannot imagine for the life of me that he would hear racist abuse whether a team mate of his or not and then lie through his teeth to defend the person being racist. Do you believe that?

For me, from the moment this came out I thought Terry was innocent the information coming out the court case as the trial went on didn't do anything to change my mind. Now for me if I had been innocent and been cleared of all charges after someone wrongly accused me in those circumstances I would be seriously pissed off. It's all well and good saying he "thought" he was being racially abused you either are or you aren't in my view and you certainly cannot decide if you are based on a youtube clip with no sound.

So someone burgles your house. The police make an arrest. It goes to court, but there's not enough evidence to convict. Should the alleged burglar be livid at you for being 'wrongfully accused'?
