Thank You Nigel Doughty

He was probably sat in his mansion in London, playing with his bollocks whilst the club he owns was sinking - again - into a malaise caused by his mismanagement.

Well said. I won't question his motives, but I will question is management of the club. We should have a clock at the City Ground counting the days since the last top flight fixture in Nottingham. Tick-tock-tick-tock..

Nigel Doughty can hardly be held responsible for us losing to a late goal in a game we deserved to win. There would have been nothing Billy Davies could have done either. I don't understand why we have a thread about them...

Admittedly the timing of such a thread suggests this is simply an irrational post-match reaction. But I for one wasn't actually all that angry when we conceded a winner in the 2nd minute of injury time. I wasn't surprised. I just laughed. Of course we did. It's just another bad event, in a poor season, amongst a poor decade for Nottingham Forest Football Club.

I wonder in about ten years time if fans would still be calling for the Great king Billy to return

To be fair Sedge, financial input is one thing, and I'm sure his intentions are great. But you have to face facts. Wigan, Hull, Bradford, Derby, Leicester, Southampton, Burnley, Leeds, Ipswich, Norwich, Charlton, Sheffield United, Blackpool, Swansea and God knows how many other clubs have seen top flight football during his ownership of NFFC, many on much smaller budgets.

And his financial input wouldn't have needed to be so great if his management had been better. Davies to Cotterill in two hefty pay-offs is just terrible, and will have cost a serious sum of money. That isn't our fault. And yet it'll be used as a stick to beat the fans when the annual financial reports come out for this year. "Doughty had to plug an extra £X million into the club this year"...well, sacking successful managers will do that to you.

The facts speak for themselves- we have been piss poor since Billy left and 12 years after ND took over we are in the same place. Personally I think the whole lot needs tearing down and starting again- if that means with new owners, change of players, board staff and manager so be it.

Ah of course, good old hindsight, makes a success of us all ! If only ND had bothered to digest the contents of this forum....

I can't see how any Forest fan would think he's done a good job. What the f*** have they been watching for the last twelve years? The most hilarious thing is that those who still believe that Doughty can and has done no wrong were unhappiest when Forest were doing well.

Work that one out.

At least they can have years of delight as they watch utterly shit football in the lower divisions.

I can't help but feel apathetic through all of this, all the anti-Doughty and all the anti-Billy stuff.

It's sad in a way, I'm just struggling to care. :(

Merging of Nottingham Forest and County to get a superclub and call it Notts Forest maybe ?

Well with that little nugget, no one can be accountable for anything. With hindsight, David Platt wouldn't have spent millions, or signed the 3 Italians. With hindsight, Colin Calderwood wouldn't have unsettled the defence mid-way through the second haalf in the Yeovil play off game. Nick Barmby would have booked a taxi pre-Derby match at Pride Park.

I accept this thread doesn't help us looking to the future. But some people are just very disillusioned with the club and see very little light at the end of the tunnel and want to vent their frustration. Essentially, that is one of the purposes for such a forum. And in the case of Nigel Doughty, whatever his intentions, the frustration is justified.

Yes and how many have been relegated to the third Tier ? How many of those clubs have applied for Administration ? Simply football has changed beyond recognition since the Premiership's creation, with money dictating on how the game has evolved. Yes the traditional supporters of teams from the old First Division (Coventry, Notts County, Norwich, Ipswich, Southampton, WBA etc) are now frustrated with their teams performances but sadly without the finanical impetus and backing of a multi-millionaire (or billionaire) and possibly a top class or up-and-coming manager it is now impossible to break into and solidfy their position in the Premiership.

I would imagine, in all honesty, the frustrations felt by the fans are nothing compared to frustrations of ND...I AM SERIOUS HERE....the bloke has spent millions trying to put his beloved Forest back into the top league, Managers have come and gone, not as fast as his millions, I did hear the other day, steps at the Admilralty, that after all the crap he received for not allowing the manager cart blanch over the transfer budget, the signings and contracts given by McClaren to the new signings are almost a mirror image of Platts signing of the Italians......hence the falling on his own sword after the disastrous appointment of McClaren.

Those who swelled the movement against Doughty have achieved their aims, now lets live with it !
