I'd be very keen on Lewis Potter or Josh Bowler for that matter. But, we need to temper our expectations. £100m isn't much in la la land and, for example, the minute West Ham enter the bidding for someone like KLP we're f**ked. They only need one/two players so they can go all out. We need 5-10 players with a lower budget!

If we are to stay up, it'll rely on Cooper getting players other clubs won't look at to raise their game and a huge slab of luck. That said, if we could get KLP for £10-12m I'd be very happy with that deal.

We still need potentially 3 CMs and a striker alongside two wing backs. Given that we'll have to spend on quality midfielders and a striker, wing backs will have to be bought on a shoestring.

In an ideal world, we can look at Lowe and say, 'we need better'. I wouldn't disagree, but remembering our context is important. We need to target the best, less well known, players from the Championship. Ones where we have a unique knowledge of how good they are. The minute we start going to head to head with Premier League teams, expect players to regularly choose Crystal Palace and Wolves ahead of us.

From what I understand, AMN might well hold out for a 'bigger' rather than come to us, Henderson is a different situation as he'd be a loan and MGW, in all honesty, would almost certainly choose Wolves ahead of a move to Forest.

Think Gibbs White wants assurances of game time prior to signing a wolves contract - given our loan situation (zincs return) he'd get that here... and there's the Cooper factor. Incidentally, I'd take them both from wolves - appreciate concerns over quality in the final third but like Zincs tenacity and that he can cover several positions. Good squad add if the valuation is accurate.

You'd imagine £15M ish might swing it too. That's a lot of cash to Hull

You would have thought at least that.
IIRC, Hull turned down £12m from Spurs for him in January and it was thought they were going to go back with £14m but that never came off.

We might be premier league now but some of the rumour bait we're biting on is Vanarama level.

Absolutely... I'd certainly look at Zinkernagal. Would play a part in the Premier League and a top championship player should we get relegated

We should absolutely try and sign all our loanees from last season in my opinion.

Whatever your opinions on Zinks he formed part of a side that beat Arsenal, then Leicester and who took it to Liverpool who could only scrape a narrow 1-0 win.

It's clearly a side that can take it to Premier League teams and needs to be kept together for that reason, with some quality additions of course.

I'd definitely take Zincs and Davis at the right price. We should do whatever we can to get Garner and Spence. Not bothered about Lowe and think we can easily do better.

I'd forgotten about Lowe to be honest!

Yeah agreed, not too fussed about keeping him.

Agreed Lowe isn't a bad player, but to be honest I think that there are better players out there that we should be looking at bringing in.

Our market is the top end of the Championship or middling teams from abroad until we become established.

A lot of lower Prem teams have targeted that market and established themselves. Villa are the best example, players like Cash & Watkins to establish themselves and now they are moving onto players like Coutinho.

So if you believe what you read our side for Newcastle away could be...

Henderson

Worrall
Niakhate
McKenna

Williams
Garner
Curtis Jones
Maitland-Niles

Johnson
Gibbs-White
Broja

Anyone got a Kleenex handy?

It couldn't because there are 4 loans in there, even if the Henderson loophole works it'd be one loan too many, think the B part of the BUPA on Jones is accurate... Take Jones out, put AMN or Yates into the middle and add a real good left footed LWB and we're laughing. There'll be loads of links to come yet still.

Whilst not all of these rumours are going to materialise into transfers (obviously), I'm really pleased at the calibre of player we are being linked with.

If we manage to fill the gaps in our squad with the quality of player we have been linked with so far, we'll do alright IMO.

Totally agree

Garner and obviously Spence would play most games; Davis would play a good proportion, and Zinc/Lowe would be (absolute minimum) great squad members

The Henderson deal hasn't even been in public for 24 hours and it looks like we are signing him.

Lots will come out of nowhere I am sure. I imagine the side will look completely different to what we think it will now.

Seems we made an offer for 20 year old PSG striker Arnaud Kalimuendo but he turned us down. Scored 12 in 34 on loan to Lens last season:

Leeds now being heavily linked with this lad. Could mean we get less competition for Castellanos though, if we're in for him.

Looks like Niakhate could be left centre back and left wing back too (or I guess one of two centre backs, and standard left back)
