Makes more sense to just sign one of either Djed or Williams (or another RWB; I don't think we'll sign either) and sign an actual LWB to play that position

Neco does play LWB for Wales so would probably like playing the season there to be ready for the World Cup

Now that Rothwell and Wallace are no longer available (and it seems like we weren't interested,) who do we think the club is looking at to plug the gaping holes in the squad? I find it hard to believe we're gonna be splashing the cash for the subs, especially since so much investment is needed in the starting-11.
I reckon we'll start bulking out the squad once we've sorted out the starting XI.

I reckon it'll be younger players that have scope to develop (like Panzo and Ojeda) that fill out the bench rather than players in their late 20s/30s, and they'll come later in the window.

Wallace and Rothwell were probably Championship targets. There doesn't seem to have been any real talk of either since promotion was confirmed.

It's a bit square peg in a round hole though. We'd be far better balanced with a left footer there.

If Williams comes (out of us, Fulham and Southampton, I think we are the least likely to get him), it'll be as first choice RWB and Djed won't be coming IMO.

I'm worried Laryea is going to leave if he doesn't think he's going to get a chance to play. Would like to see a bit more of him.
Just like Ashley, I'm afraid Horvath will leave to get game time somewhere else which would be a shame.

No chance we’re getting Djed. He wants Spurs and I’m sure it will happen. Can’t understand why he’s still mentioned.
I agree that Djed most likely has his heart set on a move to Spurs (whether they are as keen is another matter), unfortunately we can't afford to wait until late in the window to see if Spurs make a serious move or not. I can't see Williams coming either, so we won't be seeing either in a Forest shirt IMO.

It'll be that Kabore lad or someone else not yet linked in the press I reckon.

I'd be quite surprised if Spurs got him - if they wanted him enough he'd be theirs by now.

Not sure he'll be ending up here either though.

I think it's still highly probable that Spurs do sign Djed Spence.

That said though, Boro seem to be having a real go at the Championship this season and getting like £15m for Spence would definitely help them with their squad assembly. They're playing hard ball but I think that's in part because they know Spurs have the money.

If Spurs move on to other targets, I do wonder if we'd still look to make that happen. Cashy went for £15m and I think he was a better all rounder than Spence was. I would be a little disappointed if we did pay £15m for him to be honest, especially now how quickly we've been disregarded in trying to sign him.

I get Spurs is a bigger attraction but he's just had the season of his life and you would have hoped that he'd be pushing to join us if Spurs aren't going to come through but there doesn't seem to be anything there.

Awoniyi - £17.5m
Williams - £15m
MGW - £20m
Niakhate - ~£10m
Henderson - £5m loan deal

£60m of fees there + wages for everyone apart from Hendo. Vangelis really isn’t f***ing around is he?

I think this is just the beginning mate, the names that will pop up as the window goes along might be even more crazy.

I was looking around at the amount teams relegated spend and it’s normally not much at all with the exception of Fulham who spent £100m once. It can amount to 40-50m with most teams but they are spread over several players between 6-9m. Sheffield United spent a bit over 2 seasons but they spent it so badly, McBurnie £20m, Brewster £22m, WTF!

I can honestly see us spending the most of any promoted team. Maybe Evangelos was telling the truth when he said we would need to reinvest all of the TV money.

Yeah we definitely have more work to do than any side coming up for a long time. Hopefully this window will set us up for years to come.

Double that and we should be ok

Just as a point of reference AC Milan have a transfer kitty around €50m.

Premier league prices are obscene.

I doubt we'll sign Williams or MGW to be fair. Though I do expect us to spend big this summer.

Both are allegedly being sold, both haven’t done it in the prem consistently and both coming off the back of stand-out seasons in the champ.

They’re positions we’re looking to fill and fit the recruitment brief. I think we’ll get them!

But we have to spend more than Fulham & Bournemouth given that our squad was decimated with the departure of loan players & very little remaining in terms of quality.

This is also an advantage in that we haven’t got shed loads of big earners eating up the budget. We have a lot more space to recruit

They will both be on the move this summer certainly. I just don't think it'll be to us.

Williams will sign for Fulham or Southampton IMO. Wolves want a bidding war as they need to raise funds, so I reckon MGW won't move until later in the window and we'll get priced out of a move for him.

Ashley

Steve Chettle
Why not?

We seem to be front of the queue for both at the minute.
I reckon our name is being used by Williams agent to try and make one of the other interested clubs (most likely Southampton IMO) to make a move personally. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see us signing him. I think Kabore from City is far more likely than either Williams or Spence.

Not seen anything credible about MGW beyond us simply being an interested party, but Wolves will want a bidding war which we don't really have the time (and possibly the money) to get involved in.
