We need 3 new CD’s, at least 2 new proven strikers and cover at RWB. 😂
And Scarpa on free kicks and corners

Yeah. Surely there’s some rumours to look at for January? Come on.
There should be names linked soon enough. We've got a threadbare squad as it stands and we're desperate for reinforcements. I can see us getting five or six new players in January and hopefully they'll be able to pick up the points we need in our scrap with likely relegation candidates Leicester and Wolves.

With our great list of purchases this Summer, with Serge Aurier arriving well after the others, Scarpa on the sidelines and Bowler and Hwang at Olympiacos, I'm beginning to wonder if we haven't gone from a very carefully worked out plan at the start of the window, to a free for all scramble for players at the end.

We seem to be short of a backup for Naikhate, Coops can't work out what to do now since Mangala was injured and the striker situation seems to have him in a tizz because he can't force in the players he wants elsewhere plus a striker, too.

It's all very well having two players for each position, but unless those players are compatible with each other, they just don't fit if one, for any reason, goes absent.

Of the inflated “£150m” transfer figures from the summer, how much is our actual spend when we go down?

MGW would be £25m not £40m+
Mangala £8m not £12m
etc

Feels like a decent % of our spend is add-ons, and surely the bulk of that is survival. Other clubs would initially see our signings and think they’d get that money… enter Nottingham Forest.

I’d rather stay up and pay the money.

Fans love signings no matter who they are. See the Karanka January for reference.

It's only a bit of perspective to the notion we should sign any old player as he'll do and "we can't lose".
If you can keep your head when all about you. Are losing theirs and blaming it on you.

I still believe we have the core of a good side we’re just not showing it as of yet.
I too think it's the best squad we've had in a very, very long time.

Unfortunately the squad was so weak last year (and a miracle we went up) that a huge overhaul was required regardless. Perhaps we went too far at the end (don't think we needed Freuler, Lodi, Boly, Lodi, Dennis etc), but we were always going to have to spend a lot of money. I had us pegged to spend around £80m on 10-12 players with the anticipation we'd probably go down despite that, because £80m on 10-12 players at this level doesn't actually get you very much.

If we go down which looks likely we'll have a good squad for the Championship even if we lose a few players.

Bowler Awoniyi

Assumes we lose Niakhate, Mangala, MGW and Johnson which I think is a worst case scenario. We'd probably recoup £60m+ in that worst scenario too, and despite that you're still left with a starting eleven which looks set defensively and in midfield, just needs some tinkering in forward roles.

Exactly how I see it, I saw the transfers as a long term foundation remember we only spent money on a fee for one player over the age of 26. There is a method to all the transfers. I think MGW, Johnson and Mangala would give it a season as well. Niakhate will be coveted stick some prem loans in that squad and we look a very very good championship outfit.

Board just has to have a long term plan here. I understand they want to stay up and I can’t see cooper keeping us up but that chance of short term success may bugger us in the long term.

Plus coops deserves the season no matter what.

It's all about mid-table...
It's all style over substance.

I genuinely knew it would all go into liquidity, dont want to come across as arrogant, hope you don't think that.

It was BOUND to go tits up. NAILED ON.

Spence was never a serious option for us, he always wanted to go to Spurs from the moment there was interest and why wouldn't he? Boro were happy to carry on his loan with us as they wanted to maximise his value and we paid out the recall option on his loan contract.

When it comes to Garner, I do think we did miss a trick but the second we signed Mangala and O'Brien it wasn't going to happen. Quality wise, he's about the same for them. At the same time though, he wasn't available until late in the window as United were unsure whether to sell him or not. Henderson's loan option meant we were boxed in as well.

As for Keinan, it's six of one, half a dozen of the other. On the one hand, we miss his presence up top and none of the other strikers have his pace/power combination. But he's also f***ing brittle and £15m for him to quote Bottom "wasn't just steep, it was f***ing vertical". Villa wanted that desperate because you just got promoted kind of money for him.

Now in terms of who else we brought in, I think Lingard is the one we've f**ked up on but even then, it's a short term f*** up. He's brought a lot of extra attention to the club because of his name and he's on very good money but he's not done anything so far. Thing is when it comes to Jesse, if he has a shit season with us, he's out of contract and who is actually going to want him if he's finished? I wouldn't mind him using us to get a bigger move if he replicated his West Ham form this season.

In terms of individuals, we've bought well. In terms of a team, I think we've shit the bed.

In my opinion, we dropped the mother of all bollocks by not signing Spence and Garner. Probably Keinan Davies as well.
I think Spence was always a long shot after Spurs interest but Garner 100%. And Davies would give them someone to aim for as well.

If we couldn't get Davis, I always wanted us to sign Adebayo from Luton.

Scored 2 tonight already and is such a handful like Davis.
