Just a small comment about our business this summer

Everyone keeps saying on BBC/Twitter/Reddit etc. that we are making a mistake as "Forest are doing a Fulham"

Genuine question for anyone on here and anyone outside of Forest...even if that is the case, how is that a bad thing? We spent 23 years struggling to even make the playoffs, hell had almost as many seasons in league one as seasons where we got top six in Championship. Fulham have gone straight back up three years in a row.

If the worst case scenario is seeing Forest spent one year in the prem, one year walking the championship, and repeat that's still a hell of a lot better than we have had for 23 years lol

One other question - why is it that getting promoted to the premier league is hyped as this huge money maker, the "180 million pound game" they call the play off final...so why is it frowned upon to actually spend that money?

Typical internet tbh spend and you're idiots for buying so many players, don't spend and you're idiots for not trying to stay in the league

Anyway, just a little rant, carry on!

It's all lazy uninformed crap anyway mate.

If we didn't go out and sign a load of players the same morons would be saying we are doing a Norwich.

You will have to blank out all the rubbish for most of the season, there will be a lot of uninformed gobshites having an opinion on everything we do.

There is an army of people out there PRAYING we will fail. The best thing about all this is that we're on every football fans lips. What completely pi**es me off at the moment is that we haven't signed anyone for at least 24 hours.

I'd be happy with him training with the team to stay fit for the world cup, purely because he could probably teach LOB and Yates a few things, but he'd be mental to do that being on a contract with Juve.

Juve are negotiating with Ramsay to cancel his contract.

I agree. I think this team is missing a really good CM. Don't get me wrong Yates and OBrien are decent but they won't win midfield battles in this league. We need another option, I think we will go big here - either in transfer fee or wages. It's a really critical position.
Yep. We need a mobile disruptive type who is tidy enough on the ball too.

Can't rely on Yates stepping into that role IMO and either way we need another capable of that.

Mangala or Vrancx would both be fine options for that role and I'd be happy paying big fees as both have potential huge upside and resale value.

Now that’s a step too far. Incredible player but he’s fit for about 170 minutes a season.
Agreed. Only interested if it's a largely inventive (pay as you play) deal and he's here as a backup (or even back up to the back up). That way if he comes good then great, if not no loss and he goes in Jan.

It's a difficult balance, bringing the quality in that we need to compete, whilst retaining the team spirit that got us here in the first place.

We've done excellent work so far, but I hope we don't overdo it and bring in a few extra players towards the deadline that we don't need.

I disagree.

The team spirit that got us here was a very, very specific circumstance. The talent levels of the remaining players were nowhere near capable of even considering staying up. Even now we are several quality players away from that point.

Also, Cooper was able to create team spirit out of nowhere, no reason he can't do it again.

I also trust that Cooper has enough of a say in our business in that if he says he needs players and he approves of the ones he is signing then he's confident and capable of whipping them into shape.

There’s no doubt our squad needed major work to be able to compete in this league but how the hell do you get a team of strangers to gel in just a few weeks?
Hopefully, in a similar way to taking a weak, bottom of the table, "Not good enough" championship squad, devoid of any confidence, to promotion in the same season.

In Cooper We Trust

Didn’t like Ramsey when he was here. Felt like he was in pre-season friendly mode. Haven’t liked him since. Think we’d have a better shot than most though. He’s Welsh. He cares deeply about that. Cooper is Welsh. And we have 2 of Wales’ brightest young talents in our squad that he’ll be aware are looking up to him. I think he’d give it his all, which might be interesting…

I think Ramsey on a similar sort of deal as Lingard would make a lot of sense if he passes the medical and we're not looking to bring Garner in permanently.

For the player, it'd be a return to the Premierleague but he would be coming into a side with 3 of his Wales compatriots and also, to a team that prides itself on good quality, passing and attacking football.

For us, there would be limited financial risk. We'd be receiving a player who like it or not is a level higher than what we have and who is looking to be sharp for the World Cup so he wouldn't be coming here to take the piss.

As for this whole "he barely plays" rhetoric going around;
Last season, he played 18 games in all competitions for his clubs.
The season before he played 29 games in all competitions for his club.
The season before that he played 34 games in all competitions for his club.
The season before that he played 40 games in all competitions for his club.

This year he's played in 5 of Wales' 8 games.
Last year he played in 6 of Wales' 12 games.

If you don't fancy this kind of thing, then I don't know what to tell you.

With that trajectory he will manage 12 games next season.
