Steve Cooper will always be the MAN!

It’s simple. Which side of the fence are you on?

And with the greatest of respect, I have to disagree with the idea that people who make millions upon millions can't be an idiot. Plenty of idiots have made lots and lots of money.
If you are an idiot you won't have your millions for very long.
It's a lot harder to keep it than it is to make it.
Or so I'm told 🙄

Well that has taken a long time but I have finally managed to get through this thread and I’d only been away for a day feeling very sad about all ythe developments this week. Steve Cooper has performed miracles and provided us with 2 years that I certainly thought I would never see again on my lifetime. I was at the Arsenal game at the end of last season and that was truly magical.

However, something has happened this season and I’m not sure what or why. Joe Worral has gone from club stalwart to be banished and leaving in January along with McKenna why is that? New signings that started really well, and had fans excited, put in that performance and haven’t lauded since - what is going on? 1 win since early September and not beating the league whipping boys Luton & Burnley at home something has to be wrong? Has Coops got something else set up? No one will ever have the answer to any of these questions but we have to move on, Cooper will always be a club legend for the last 2 years but Saturday is the start of a new era and we all need to get behind the team and new manager. Going back to 23 years in the Championship and worse will be it for me as I will not be here if we eventually get back but this new era could quite easily be established in the premier league and the occasional foray into Europe ala West Ham, Brighton & Villa which would be a very happy way to spend my imminent retirement.

I've been watching Forest for nigh on 30 years and these last 2-and-a-bit have undoubtedly been the most enjoyable. On the pitch, SC's impact was immediate and the success that followed has transformed the club beyond recognition. Off the pitch he ignited a fanbase whose morale was on the floor & came across as someone who was privileged to lead this Football club.

He'll undoubtedly go down as a legend and one of our greatest ever managers. I hope that if/when he returns to the CG in some capacity he's given the thanks he deserves.

Unfortunately, as ever, things have soured and whilst he's certainly not to blame for all of our problems this season, it's inevitably the manager that bites the bullet in these situations. It's a shame though that the last few days have been blighted by more of the undignified press briefing that has seemingly become a trademark whenever someone leaves a senior position at the club.

So this is my first ever post and I have to be brutally honest, I never bothered with football until the England Italy euros and Forest championship play offs. I'm 28 going on 29, hell even my dad was never die hard into his football. Coop was the trooper, what he did may never be rivaled again - The best part of this story is a mate of mine I rearly see has got me a seat at the game this Saturday my first match since I was 15 at a county match with Sven-Göran Eriksson as manager. Now this a vip work experience treat. I was pissed as a newt and had to kick the ball in front of a semi packed stadium - I missed.

I went back, kicked the ball.. Cooper lets not be too quick to equit him just yet... Saturday!!!!!!!

You’ve been around long enough to know that sacking managers doesn’t always change things…in fact in my lifetime, three managers have reinstated Forest’s top-flight status.
Frank Clark got us promoted, we sacked him and went down.
Dave Bassett got us promoted, we sacked him and went down.
Which brings us to Steve Cooper. Good luck Nuno, you need to break a trend here.
Wasn't Frank Clark sacked on December 19th too?

I can’t think of another manger we’ve sacked with their popularity intact.
(I think Cloughie resigned/retired?)
That was the official word but make no mistake it was put to him he needed to resign and as sad as it was it had to happen he simply wasn't a manager anymore at that point just a very unwell legend

Thanks Steve, we are where we are because of you. I think we all hit a brick wall at some point at work, but we usually leave of our own volition, but then most of us don't have a redundancy clause anymore.
It would have been nice for you to turn it around and take us to the next level but that seemed further and further off with each passing day.
Hope the new guy gets a degree of bounce and some buy in from the players, as always with a new Forest appointment we usually go in to it with more trepidation than hope.
Glad I didn't have to make the decision but sad that it had to be made.
A very Nottingham Forest mess once again, FFS.

So, I’ve been waiting for the dust to settle on here before posting something.

Firstly, I support Forest and want us to win every game. I want to see Nuno do well but I do think he has to hit the ground running, it’s a decent ish appointment but could go badly wrong. It sounds like Cooper struggled to manager the volume of players and the ego’s that came along. Nuno will have the exact same problems as Cooper did and I’m not convinced that the Owners have learnt their lesson, you cannot just buy in vast numbers and expect it to magically work.

On to Cooper, people have said lots of emotional things on here and worded them far better than I could. My first game as a 9 year old was in 1996, I had my first season ticket in 2003 and at age 18 to 21 travelled away with Forest in those League One days.

I’ve provided this background because it gives context as to how much Steve Cooper means to me and so many others. He was the light after years of gloom, in two years he took a club on its knees and turned us in to a Premier League outfit. You will simply never be forgotten for what you did for this club. No more trips to the likes of Rotherham… No, you gave us Anfield, Old Trafford and Wembley, you gave a generation of Forest fans dreams instead of the nightmares that existed before. Thank you for everything and we will meet again 😀

Sadly, this game is run on results, not sentiments. Cooper made the rod for his own back by his own results ,you can't blame it all on awoniyi's injury, it's a house of cards if so. Fulham lost Mitrovic and is still cruising along, forest lost awoniyi and it's all haywire.

Fulham sold Mitrović in the summer. They had the time to buy a replacement.

Awoniyi got injured after the transfer window closed.

If that article is correct, it's amazing Steve stuck it out for as long as he did.
