Steve Cooper will always be the MAN!

Well done sir, it's actually quite remarkable given the current climate football finds itself in. I've actually smiled for the first time today!

I may be tired after a very late night, a disturbed night's sleep, and an early start, but when I saw the Official Statement, I burst into tears.
Now I a m looking forward to seeing the coach and the players produce a belter of a performance.
We are going to get the benefits of the New Manager Bounce, without having to get a new manager!

You’d have thought regardless of opinions on the statement wording he will have the season regardless now. There was little point in a sacking at this point and that diminishes further every game.

Bit choked up reading that. Obviously things have been less than ideal and the run in isn't going to make things any easier, but I'd still much rather Steve see the season out either way things go. Stay up by the skin of our teeth and I trust him to build on what we have and get us ready for a more positive campaign. Go down and I see no man better poised to bring us back up next year.

Huge credit to Marinakis and the board for making this statement to fend off current and immediate speculation.

Great news and fair play to the big man. Proud of the club for staying the course, sticking with our leader and not giving way to hysteria and panic.
I just hope the same attitude prevails if and when we are relegated. If the owner holds his nerve, Steve Cooper will establish us in time as a Premier League club. Of that I have no doubt.

Good stuff. Wonder if it will hold if we lose the next 3 games. Getting a point at Villa seems vital now.
I think he's in for the season now.

The statement, whilst being highly welcome, is no more than a temporary stay of execution though for me.

Obviously I'm not being critical, as I'm delighted with the decision - but I do wonder exactly what feeds into EM's decision making (particularly why it differs from the decision he makes for his other club).

EM can read the room. He sees that we are not typical of almost every other club ever to have been in this sutuation, where (if memory serves) the majority of fans have demanded change. Often well before the point we have reached now.

He knows that the anger at what many of us see as a bad decision, will be aimed squarely at him.

In this context, the club statement might be read as a first attempt at managing this. We love Steve too, but...

If that doesn't boost the players then nothing will.

Interesting wording of the statement though..."results and performances must improve immediately". Which is obvious given our position and form but interesting for Marinakis to publicly and so directly mention it.

My guess is that he isn't happy at all with what he's seeing but has decided that a change now will provide no real benefit.
Yep, yep yep.

That’s about as negatively as that statement could be spun.

Well done, well done.

I think the words are just a reminder to the world that he is not a loser and is only tolerating this situation because of the background to what cooper has achieved and so deserves the extra time that would not usually be given.
