Steve Cooper will always be the MAN!

It’s simple. Which side of the fence are you on?

Obviously I'm not being critical, as I'm delighted with the decision - but I do wonder exactly what feeds into EM's decision making (particularly why it differs from the decision he makes for his other club).
I think he knows more about football than many of us assume Congo, and he fully realises that the culture in Greece is fundamentally different to here. Also, in contrast to fan disatisfaction if Olympiacos aren't leading at the top of their league, I expect he's not used to a fanbase backing the manager of a struggling team near the bottom.

My birthday today, hardly slept a wink last night because of that defeat and the imminent sacking of Coops. Best birthday present i could have received by the big man. He might have a reputation in Greece for being like Al Capone but my word does he give his backing to Steve Cooper.

This could be as good as a win for the squad, if it doesn't lift those players, Steve and the coaching staff then absolutely nothing will. Thats if the players care, we know Coops cares which is why we want him as our manager to succeed.

Absolutely made up. I don't expect us to stay up, but at least we can look back and say we gave it everything on and off the pitch. Go out and give every ounce of ourselves for the remaining 9 games and who knows where we might end up, but i'm a lot more positive having Coops behind the wheel for those 9 games than Paddy Vieira rocking up seeing a nice vacancy to stroll into without a care or feel for the club.

Come on you f***ing Reds!

You go on with such down beat assessments and you will like as not find yourself tarred and feathered on the Forum!
😂 So it seems. Absolutely NO negativity on my part. I am 100% pro Cooper and 100% pro Marinakis....want him to remain even if we go down. There has been speculation for weeks now, it would have been a boost before the biggest game of the season to everyone, players, staff and supporters pre Leeds in my opinion...any potential good news could have given us even a 1% uptick in the game

Makes you wonder whether someone has pointed out to the big man that the negativity and uncertainty surrounding SC’s job is impacting on the players?

Good news and quells the rumour mongers but the line "results must improve immediately" doesn't smack of long terminism, more a stay of execution for now.

I read that as either padding to make statement longer or a challenge to the players.

I don't think it's pre-text to sacking Cooper in a few games if results don't pick up because frankly we're unlikely to take many points from next three games regardless. If you'd sack Cooper for getting nowt from Villa, Man Utd and Liverpool may as well sack him now and give a new manager a few free hits to work out his players.

Hope you are right and if meant as a rocket up the back side of the players, then no issues.

I also don't think any owner wants to say "the coach is here for the long run, no matter what!" because why would they paint themselves into a corner like that? I think the "must improve" thing is just giving him a way out should things get even worse and he decides he has to act, nothing more ominous than that.

Yeah I think him saying things must improve is just stating the obvious really.

No owner will say the manager is here for x amount of time regardless as they would look daft should they break that promise later down the line.

As always, winning games stops all panic and we ideally need to start doing so on Saturday.

Statement gives me hope, but I aint sitting tightly yet given the ambiguity.

What we all know is the next 5 games will likely yield nothing, the players are giving their all, so I'll reserve judgement on the owners intentions until after said 5 games. The sceptic in me says the owner thinks the same & doesnt want the new manager coming in to preside over 5 unwinnable fixtures.

I'm chuffed Coopers got a stay, but Id have preferred the owner coming out to say he's going with Cooper come what may. Given what this managers done, playing your hand now wouldnt be the daftest idea.

I just hope Coops can work something out for the remaining games to improve these away performances a little bit. We just can't keep playing with these aimless long passes that constantly bring pressure immediately back on us. If we can find a way to get three draws from Villa, Brentford, and Chelsea or Liverpool then it might keep us in with a shout.

It's been just over an hour and here's someone deciding to put their own timeframe on it.

Before you know it, these five games are taken as read and here we go again, all started from groupthink.

In those five games, there are 15 available points, by the way.

I’m over the moon he’s staying especially as the alternatives were dour and cooper has so much credit with me. Just because I love him that dosen’t mean I think he has to change the way we play in time. I understand it’s probably too late this season however next year we have to keep the ball better simple as. I don’t mind having less possession but we have had the least shots in the league and conceded the most so it’s not working. He has to do better with that. If we go down which I’m 90% we will than cooper has a chance to keep a really good core of players and evolve that style and do something similar to Burnley and Fulham than coke back up in much more with more stability.

By that time there will be four games left in the season

It would be beyond pointless sacking Cooper at that point
