My question is Mark Clattenburg the cause or effect of this shitshow?

Is he driving this victim culture bollocks, or his appointment a symptom of it? For me it's the second. And it's f***ing embarrassing
I do think part of it is a two fingers up from PGMOL to the appointment. It has only got worse since the appointment.

Someone posted the number of penalties this season per team. 5 of the top 6 are in that big six. Chelsea have gotten 12, Liverpool and Arsenal both had 9, and both Manchester teams 6. Only Spurs are joint with us on 1, but I consider Spurs more on Newcastle's level.

Some of that will be because those sides are generally in the opponents box more often. Some isn’t.

But the best teams get the most penalties because they’re in the box the most!!!

Except when they’re 7th and 10th of course.

Not sure why we need to worry about other fans opinions of us? However there appears to be a fair bit of support of this from other fans agreeing that all three were obvious penalties and I am sure NFFC is trending on X.

I don't really care much for social media and the reaction from the club, but this is the world we live in.

Fully behind the club going all out on this now. But that tweet was simply immature and gives the gutter press something to beat us with.

Seen some of the manager/player interviews and they're spot on. Club comms should've all been about backing them up once PGMOL/FA reacted, not that.

Sometimes in life you have to complain when you feel wronged.

We've suffered some incredibly poor decisions this season and nothing has been done. The PGMOL decision making is tighter than a duck's arse. Never hear another word.

OK, we might look like poor little cry babies, but at least have a bloody great public moan and try to force the PGMOL out into the open. Force a discussion on the subject.

It's an open secret that most commentators believe that the officiating this season has been abject.

For too long Referees and Officials have been beyond reproach. It is time that they are made accountable for their decisions. If in the light of day huge incorrect decisions aren’t given I feel replays should happen. Of course with the top 6 and FA’s view on replays this will never happen. But it should.

What utter nonsense.

It's bad enough not being able to celebrate a goal due to VAR checks.

Now you want us to not be able to celebrate a win until it's been cleared as sufficiently officiated?

Get out of here.

Anyone know if we can cash in these PGMOL apology letters at the end of the season for a point or two? Are they like luncheon vouchers?

We can exchange 4 apology letters for a small pot of lube

I think the previous poster is suggesting they would prefer a game where you can have confidence in the on-field result.

After awarding us a penalty against Brighton, the referee, Anthony Taylor, was demoted to the Championship for a week for not following the brief.
Brighton fans will tell you they have had the shitty end of the stick plenty of times so I guess the games between us are a bit of a lottery in terms of the reffing.

They are generally good enough to rise above it, but after a bright start it looks like they probably won’t be taking up one of the European places again this season. While Chelsea or Manchester United could well do instead. 🤔
