Interesting that Miller has been given a number in the range usually reserved for youth teamers...

Good to see Cohen given 8
Not sure about Findley with 9
Moussi might being playing defence

I think the fact that Miller and Derbyshire had a torrid time here last year with injury and loss of form is why they have chosen different numbers. Footballers are very superstitious on the whole, and maybe they are thinking: new number, new start?

They have both gone for numbers they have previously worn, so maybe they hope that will have an effect on their injury situation and form...

With Miller and Derbyshire taking big numbers and Blackstock, Tudgay and McGoldrick having established numbers, 9 was free, so I imagine Findley thought, "Im having that"

I wouldnt read too much into into it as SOD strikes me as the kind of bloke who couldnt give a toss what numbers they were wearing and probably left it up to the players to decide

It is the sheer number of "gaps" that gets my attention.
That is a really thin squad (even Reidy is thin...)
What does it infer about Maloney being 18 rather than him taking the number 2 shirt?

Miller wore No. 43 when he was a Man City player. Derbyshire wore 27 at Blackburn i think?

Had a feeling he would switch to 27. He wore it as Blackburn and Olympiacos.

Moussi, Cohen and Findley must have asked for new numbers.

We should do it like the Argentinian squad of World Cup '82 (I think) and number them alphabetically.

1. Blackstock
2. Camp

I really hope Miller stays fit, he could tear this league up.

And at an alleged £16k per week he needs to earn his corn.
Setting aside the injury interruptions last season, and the fact that as a result he never really attained match fitness, he came over as disruptive and petulant.
SOD has made a big thing in his discussions about the sort of player he wants here and unless Miller becomes a more mature, rounded man I can't see him being used too often.
He has the hallmarks of a Balotelli, but without the footballing genius to excuse some of the bad behaviour.

I wouldn't read too much into squad numbers. The fact they Miller, Derbyshire, Findley, Tudgay and McGoldrick all have numbers suggests they'll all be given a chance by SO'D. In fact I don't think we'll see any movement in the striking department.

Lets just hope 2,3 & 4 are filled by defenders before the season starts!
