A nice Bordeaux red hasn't convinced me that Davies should return. Perhaps a couple more bottles might do it.

Skip the wine and head straight for the creosote in the garage, that might help.

Unbelievable, the man is not or has ever been an impact manager, I know this, any fan with an ounce of football knowledge knows this. Do these Chairman ever check these facts. Time and patience with the likes of Sean O'Driscoll, a footballing man through and through.

I really wish Fawaz had granted the man far more time.

I remember just before he was sacked at Forest hearing interviews with a couple of Forest players, one was Billy Sharp, I can't remember the other, who seemed to be having a dig at SOD's tactics.

He must be the only manager who has been sacked twice with his team in the top 6, so perhaps there is something there that we don't know about that clubs/players/chairmen don't like?

They weren't struggling before he took over though, and now they are. It seems that at Walsall he has been an impact manager, but that he's had a negative impact.

Yes his sacking here was harsh and with the benefit of hindsight definitely the wrong thing to do at the wrong time, but he was a disaster at Bristol City - where he was given time - and was going the same way at Walsall.

Time for him to accept that he's a good coach but not a manager.

I was in the company of several Forest players, just before Christmas, Andy Reid was so positive under SOD and proudly gave his opinion that Forest as a side were ready to kick on and challange for promotion

Time for people to accept that while SOD might be a decent coach , he's not a good manager. Even in a club like walsall , after the initial new manager bounce , Walsall has struggled to maintain results.
All this bollocks about needing time to implement his "ideas" , bristol city gave him a lot of time ,all he did was took them close to relegation.

better than DF

Like as if SOD would have done better with the restrictions. I'm sure he'll bring back his pet hobbit gillet and play vaughan on the right. We wouldn't have Oliviera , we would end up with Dex as lone striker.

Time? He was at Brizzle from Jan to Nov

Got tomorrow nights euro numbers?

You think FFP is worse than having next to no squad in August? we've used our miracle up.

So he was expected to walk into the bottom team and implement something completely new?

Id rather watch SODs team with gilet in it than any of the shit dougal has dished up. It could be argued that FFP could have potentially hindered dougie but rocking up with 6 players and an administration new to football, pisses all over that. SOD on a bad day > dougal. If you cant see the difference theres no helping you

The job done and progression made under SOD was MILES in front of what Dougie's done.

Dougie - inherited a side 12th, had his pick of a large squad, trimmed it for financial reasons and now has the side 15th after a year playing mostly shite footy. A decent job which shouldn't be underestimated, but all very much on a "Par" level. Hasn't bought any players in we'll likely make a profit on. We are however likely to lose money on players with value such as Patterson & Lars.

SOD - inherited a side 19th with 8 players available on the 1st day of training, spent modestly in a very rushed pre-season due to his late appointment, took the side to 7th in 6 months playing mostly decent if unspectacular football. Bought in both Pep who we made 1.5m on and Lansbury who we could have made 2.5m on.

Up to you but the simple fact that SOD has flopped at 2 clubs as manager since he left forest will tell you that he's not the answer. DF needs to be given the platform to show whether he's up for it in a non-FFP summer.
Our club will never go anywhere with FFP hanging over it , not with DF , not with SOD or anyone else.

Sean O'Driscoll had us playing some lovely football. His coaching methods are second to none. Players knew when to defend, when to attack, and how to pass and move.

I haven't seen anything of the same from Freedman. We're on the retreat, stuck in the mud. Looking to attack on the counter.

Brian Clough flopped spectacularly at Leeds. People who view what happened elsewhere above what happened here need to realize that various clubs are setup different, and it's all about fit.

As great as Billy was, for me SOD was actually the best allround fit for the club at that time. We had a great balance back then and just as it was blossoming fully we sacked him

Have to say to watching both Bournemouth and Doncaster play us when he was in charge and thinking "I wish we played football like that". When he did come, I agree, I think he needed time and wasn't given it, so he has to go into the 'unproven' file.
