So, that Oli Burke money that Fawaz promised would be "used and reinvested"

of the reported £13 million fee, we spent £2-300k on some journeyman winger who is mocked by his old teams fans, a loan of a Striker who, at the age of 24, has had 8 different clubs and seemingly never scored more than 7 goals in a season, and an average Championship winger who has managed 23 games in the last 2 seasons combined, with 1 year left on his contract at Boro.

If we've spent more than 1 million on that lot combined i would be pretty disappointed, so the question begs to be asked, what about the rest of the f***ing money?

Im sure we'll get some pathetic excuse trotted out like "With so little time left in the transfer window, we were unable to get the player/s we wanted due to the selling club asking too much money with so little time left in the transfer window" WELL MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE f***ing THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BEFORE SELLING MAYBE THE BEST PLAYER IN THE SQUAD WITH LESS THAN A WEEK LEFT TO REPLACE HIM!

You're also not going to get much out of 'investing' in a couple of 28 years olds. Relatively short term, no re-sale value, etc.

In other news the world just ended. So, you know, things are looking up.

I'm so disappointed... It had got to the point where I was enjoying following forest again and had got the buzz back. Forest playing exciting football, with a good manager and young academy graduates playing... But no Fawaz decides to stick his oar in and mess it all up. Can't wait for the day he sells up and I hope he never comes back again. He's been a disaster ever since he stepped through the door. Do the right thing, stop wasting your family's money and sell us.

If it wasn't for this lie I might just give fawaz the benefit of the doubt (although probably not). Whilst some of us realise the financial realities facing forest, a lot of fans saw us sell a player for £13 million followed by the owner promising to re-invest it. So they expect a similar amount to be spent. Can we really be surprised if the honest hard-working fans who pay their money every week are up in arms?

Let's hope so, i'm just struggling to understand why Burke had to be sold. I'd much rather Fawaz came out with a statement saying that he had to sell Burke to make sure we didn't end up in an embargo again, rather than him lying in a tweet saying it will all be reinvested.

He has said exactly that in the evening post article posted tonight (and linked elsewhere on this forum).

Given he didnt put a time frame on it, he aint really lied has he.

Would it be such a bad thing to take a look at what we have before reevaluating in January. Wee look to have a knack of unearthing decent players on a budget.

Why not sell in January then?

We've replaced one of the best young wingers in the game, with 3 journey men.

I personally would have preferred to wait until January, keeping Burke, Paterson and Ward. Then sold Burke at the beginning of Jan, when his value would have increased even more, most probably and then had 2 weeks to find some decent replacements rather than 2 days.

Re: So, that Oli Burke money that Fawaz promised would be "used and reinvested"

Here is my problem with the evening post article:

Fawaz tells montanier not to worry about us selling our prize assets - Burke is gone by the end of the week.

Fawaz tells fans that we will reinvest the Burke money in new players. He adds 'the next two or three days will show what are plans are for the money' - we spend about £300k total.

Now fawaz says maybe we will sign players in january if we are pushing for the top 6 (which if we are honest, is not likely). Why on gods green earth would we believe him?

What Fawaz has said in the post appears fundamentally contradictory.

'All the money will be reinvested eventually. We can buy in January'

'Thanks to Burke's sale we have no worries for FFP'

It was a great win, but the football wasn't that great. Probably because Burke had an off day until the 93rd minute.

Also Burke said in his Leipzig interview that he knew about the deal for a week before it went through- so they did have time to prepare for spending during this window if they wanted to.

HE DID PUT A TIME FRAME ON IT. He said on twitter, the next 2 or 3 days would show what his plans were for the money.
