Snatchday 1: Nottingham Forest Vs the PGMOL

Liverpool had their request for VAR audio feed released within 24 hours, so we should be able to see ours in about 6 hours....

.... right?

Gallagher says the threshold for contact has increased in the last few weeks… should the threshold not be set at the beginning of the season and stuck to throughout?
It will probably decrease again on Tuesday.

Maybe they should produce a ‘reffing forecast’ with isobars etc

No, let him in and destroy that axe-wound forehead. The arrogant hypocrite needs to be knocked off his perch, to quote Sir Alex.

He's built up this aura around him because of his millions and big Sky Sports contract where he thinks he's untouchable and he's somehow the mouthpiece for every working class fan. Champagne socialist is what he is. Nothing better than the people he complains about in politics.

He's a fraud, as a manager and a pundit. No true morals or values about him, only out to get the bag. Hence why players couldn't connect to him.
Just because we disagree violently with him on this one topic it doesn't make him Satan's love child.

He's simply wrong about this. If he took time to read the room he'd use the soft influence that he undoubtedly does have to back the fans and call out the issues. Why he hasn't I don't know, and I'm not going to chuck out allegations, but he's not the anti Christ.

We apparently aren’t supposed to say they are cheats. I think they blatantly are
Yeah and this is why there’s so much pushback in the media. It’s a kneejerk reaction: “you can’t say that!”. Because they’re all pros, they know that saying things like that will very quickly get you into hot water.

But there obviously is a point where you have to say something, it’s just a question of whether the club have misjudged that now is the time.

We’ll have to wait and see.

👆 I was shocked that they knee jerked like that but now they did it I'm 100% behind the complaint.

I think it is the right time. You need to react as the issue happens rather than wait until the anger dissipates.

These people are bullies. They get by on making clubs fear raising their heads above the parapet.

The question is will anyone have the balls to stand with us

I’ve got mixed feelings about this whole debacle. On the one hand I find it unprofessional, embarrassing and a thinly veiled attempt at papering over the cracks of our on-the-pitch ineptitude.

In the other hand though, I’m enjoying the heat that it is bringing on the Premier League, its officiating, and its punditry. It’s pretty far reaching as well - Radio 4 had it featured this morning. My favourite part is seeing little Gary Neville getting a bit of comeuppance for chatting shit - I’m sure he’ll relish the attention, but I also expect he’s got a small turtles head forming in his pants knowing he’s in the big man’s black book (just look at his alleged track record).

It’s all very heart over head but, f*** it, bring the chaos.

We didn't even say that. All we did was say we had warned them of a potential conflict of interest, and that we keep getting terrible refereeing.

At no point have we said that there is cheating going on, or any corruption. If the authorities or pundits see it that way, maybe they should look at why they think that.

I can only speak for myself really, but I think everyone assumes we’re all as terrified as they are of losing their seat on the gravy train, when this just isn’t the case.

PS: I think the sheer weight of bad refereeing decisions is contributing to the poor performances. Even if the club says nothing publicly, do you expect the players and coaches not to notice they seem to be playing to a different set of rules as other teams? We cannot separate and isolate the two aspects.

The only angle the media seems desperate to avoid is that decisions against Forest might relegate us.

Decisions on a scale which dwarf what any other club have suffered, including our friends the semi-permanently cheated Wolverhampton Wanderers.

There's a tonne of money at stake here, people's jobs at the club, investment in the city of Nottingham. We go down and we don't just suffer as a club, we suffer as a city. If we go down due to sporting reasons (and we are shit, yes) then fair enough, but if we go down by a couple of points after the deluge of "dodgy" (cough corrupt) decisions against us then the FA has in my book essentially declared war on not just the club but the city of Nottingham too.

Where's this angle in the media? Why are they so closing rank on "can't say that" when people's lives are affected by this.

Can I ask a couple of honest questions? As an Everton fan, I feel we've not had the rub of the green in a lot of instances of VAR reviews this season, but clearly we were very much on the fortunate side of what happened on Sunday.

Firstly do you really think that this is corruption? The Luton stuff and some of the subsequent comments I've read make me think that there's at least a small number of people who think that the league/PGMOL has conspired against Forest somehow here

Secondly, what's to be gained from the statements? I can accept that the Attwell issue is a fair one, but wouldn't this have been better to have been made in private and then addressed at the next PL meeting or whatever? The statement effectively calls into question the integrity of an official, even if subsequent statements have tried to play that down.

I think the danger here is that public opinion would have been on your side given you had three decisions go against you in a 6 pointer in a nationally televised game. The subsequent statement has flipped that and public opinion, led by the likes of Neville, Carragher, Shearer etc is now firmly against you. I've no idea if that counts for anything at all, but it would seem to make whatever your objective is more difficult to achieve.

It's incredible how badly the odds are stacked against us.

It's written in the rules that we're not allowed to spend as much money as the other clubs we are competing against. Not only that, we have to deal with regular incompetence from the authorities, who are completely unwilling to review any of their decisions against us on the field.

The 4 points deduction due to failure to follow FFP rules is just as likely to send us down.
It’s easy for Forest to blame everyone but themselves-although I accept that we do seem to have had the rough end of the stick from referees this season.

Corruption probably not, but gross incompetence yes.

What's to be gained? If this is the spark that pushes for meaningful change in the way officiating is done in this country, then I am proud that it was my club that started the fire. You could argue your bretheren in red started it at the start of the season vs Spurs but we'll take the credit for this.

I think it's incompetence not really corruption, reffing is very poor in the prem and VAR which is meant to assist is making things worse. Probably nothing to be gained from the statement, but something has to be done about the amount of errors happening every week affecting many clubs, Coventry yesterday for a start.

Whatever the final outcome, people’s lives will be affected somewhere.
We just have to get on and do what most clubs do and win a few games.
If the worst happens our glorious leaders are going to say it was all somebody else’s fault. We could be 4 points better off now if they had done their job properly last season and stuck to the rules, even if those rules weren’t quite right. Selling Johnson in a timely manner or not wasting millions on donkeys.
