Keep or not?

Really nice gesture from a decent bloke, but I don't see how it affects the issue of whether he should be concentrating 100% on football.

Cox needs to trim down too.

Yep. If he got in shape I think we'd see a different player.
Chunky footballers bug me. If you can't find the motivation as a pro athlete to get down to your best weight then you may as well give up.

Cox has ability but he's just not a goal getter and doesn't have that hunger for goals which is what we need. We just need someone who doesn't care about anything else apart from scoring goals and lots of them. Still maybe keep him as a squad man but we need better.

If he's on £12,000 then it's a third of his wages. How many people earn £60 a week?

Firstly this was half his 'trading profit' from whatever grubby little venture he's involved with, which he has made in addition to his wages.

Secondly it's not just about the actual figure. Someone earning £1,200 a month is going to miss £20 more than someone earning £48,000 a month is going to miss £4000. The cost of petrol/gas/electricity/food etc. remain the same for both people but these costs make up a far higher percentage of the average earners expenses. I can't imagine many footballers worrying every time a utility bill drops through the door.

Come on pol, it's pretty rare to see someone respond to abuse in this manner. Most people shut up shop and become defensive, he's gone the other way

He's just trying to recover from his twatter mistake. It's that simple, so transparent and a very common reaction IMO.

Score goals Simon. That's what we pay you for! Until you do that please shut the f*ck up on twatter about anything! Simples.

PS Taking the shirt off for your grandad (iirc) was okay but for your financial adviser was feckin stupid! Again simples :yellowcard:

His biggest hunger appears to be for pies. Certainly not scoring goals.

When he first did it, I thought it was cheeky and funny. But the more he goes on about that stuff, and pushes it on twitter it comes across like it was a marketing tool.

What people say on Twitter doesn't bother me as long as they are doing the business on the pitch. Sadly Simon Cox hasn't been.

Hopefully Pearce will be the manager to finally get something out of him.

...or get rid of him.

There's a real good footballer in Cox. The tricky bit is whether or not any manger can bring it out of him, or whether he's to focussed on other stuff now to really care.

that'd be the deciding factor in whether I'd bother with him this coming year. If his attitude and fitness is right then we may see a good player yet.

Agree with this.

Couldn't care less what he does outside of football and I don't see how his trading activities can be linked to his poor performances.

Not a huge fan of Cox but considering our lack of attacking options at the moment he's probably the best of the worst.

Spot on in my opinion.
