Signings... meh.

For what it's worth, here are my thoughts. The first XI is on the top line with 'adequate' to good cover on the line below.

Camp
Smith

Gunter Morgan Chambers Cohen
Maloney Lascelles #Required# Lynch

Greening Moussi
Freeman Boateng

Anderson McGugan Reid
McGoldrick Majewski McCleary

Findley
Tudgay

+ Garner & Blackstock

We could definitely do with the CB cover (Gardner?) and ideally a LB but other than that we don't need more wingers or strikers (although I'd take worthy ones).

Loan to buy signings anyone???

It tizwas it is
Blackstock won't be back until Christmas, we have no proven goalscorer.

A major injury to one of our back 3 in the first few weeks of the season could ruin the whole season.

It depends what we are aiming for this season I suppose.
A new LB is a must as is a good replacment for Earnshaw if you want to go into the new season giving yourself a decent chance of the playoffs.
Or make do as we are ATM mid-table for me.

I can see us utilising the loan market abit this season which isnt ideal but there will be some real quality players available on loan from the prem teams if we can get em lol

MaxiRobriguez

Bob McKinlay
Some of those players can play in multiple positions. Lynch could slot in at CB or LB where required. Freeman can play RB, LB or it now appears CM.

I know Blackstock isn't back till then but we have more than enough forward players anyway. I agree that an injury would be bad news but that is why i say we need a CB and ideally a leftie too but in all honesty that isn't the priority now we've tied up a few more midfielders who will probably push Cohen out.

Gardner in, and one or two loan to buys and I'll be a happy man.

Remember it's a long long season and things change at all stages. Just because we haven't got a full complement before the first game doesn't mean we won't be better stocked before the deadline. And even if we aren't fully stocked by then, there's no reason to believe we won't be by loan deadline. And EVEN if we are not by then, January comes in to play.

It's hard to get better players than you have already and i for one am pretty happy with what we have at this point in the season.

Yeah, we could make do and be happy with what we;ve got. I don't see that being a particularly successful strategy though.

We need a left back because we haven't got one and I think we need to improve the attack both in central and wide area's because we're not good enough.

Wide areas????

Anderson, McCleary, Reid, Greening!

A combination of any of them will work brilliantly although if we sneak in a Routledge or a Verhoek I'd be even happier.

Earnie is no loss as far as I'm concerned. Too small, too weak and had his best days.
What and you think players like, Greening Boateng and Gardner have their best days ahead of them?.
I think we will miss Earnshaw more than some people think if not properly replaced.
Which he hasn't yet.
Yes we do have have a few forwards but I don't think they will get the goals between them.

Greening's a central player and we'll need him there if Cohen is being shunted around, Reid's a maybe and often plays central. The first two haven't really shown much in the way of brilliance over the last season or two.

Greening is still a good player and the other two are fillers (but decent fillers). In the same way that Earnie is a filler because the way we will be playing he would never play, not the right physique. If he was still here I'd be ok with it but I rate others we have higher for what is required this season.

And the fact that he scored more goal in his career is irrelevant. It's the present that counts.

I'm all for strengthening, but if we can't at the moment then I'm happy with the squad we have, albeit cover is required.

It's all about mid-table...
I think we are all in for a bit of a shock.

Hope I'm wrong but I feel a shortage of goals and a lack of clean sheets will create a call for the managers head by February.

None of that makes any sense. Its irrelevant that a striker scores goals.....and its the present that counts? when our options are tudagy, mcgoldrick and garner who have all proved throughout thier careers pretty awful at scoring goals? Findley whos injury record for us, makes darren anderton look like the pinnacle of human fitness, and dexter blackstock whos injured till space year 2012?

Why would earnie never play? Whats his physique got to do with anything? Are we expecting hoofball? Are we going to play to target men? Have you been speaking to McClaren, or jumped into the future to see how next season pans out?
I dont get it

The way we've been playing in pre season wouldve been perfect. Passing football, on the ground, creating chances for our strikers to latch onto. Its not like last season, where it was pretty much just lump it forward through the air to the smallest man in football.
The fact that in these preseason games, all our forwards have played and only one has managed to score a goal, with findley also being credited a goal which was actually an own goal.....suggests we need a striker who isnt shit.

We only have 2 of them at the moment, and ones injured till next year and the other is findley who seems to be perpetually injured.

At the moment, our striking options are woeful.

Tyson wasn't played as a striker, granted boyd did score goals, dele was poor and hopefully dex will return to flick on to no-one again. I'd rather what we have now to be frank. I'd like a goalscorer though but to say Tudgay, Findley, McGoldrick and Garner won't score goals is just odd.

If any of them get a run they will score goals. I don't rule out a players ability based on the rotation system of a former manager.

Sorry mate, you'll have to eat them words if Forest dont get a proven goalscorer.

If we dont we are going to have to rely on the midfielders to chip in which I'm quite optimistic about btw.

No disrespect Edgardinho and I genuinly respect a thoughtful response you are giving as opposed to the usual approach of negative posters f*** off we don't need you here etc etc.
But don't you think the fact that you have Cohen down as the LB is just a sign of peoples willingness to make do of the clubs failings to land their main transfer targets?.

Need a left back.... Cohen is not good enough in that position. I preferred Lynch tbh, I thought he did well last season.
