Serhou Guirassy

He looks like he's had his one great standout season and after that I wouldn't blame him for picking an elite team that's offering him a good wage.

If he ends up like Mateja Kezman then that is not the fault of anyone. You take the chance. He could also go the other way. Michu had a big standout season in La Liga (at the same sort of age as Guirassy) and then joined Swansea. He was brilliant and scored on average more than 1 goal every 2 games in his first season with them.

Any thoughts on Luca Netz?

He has some good Bundesliga stats, and at 20 might be a cheapish option for LB at Forest?
The Gladbach Player is well thought of, and has become a fixture for Die Fohlen.

He's quite tall as well, and good in the air. I actually saw him score what was his first goal for Gladbach, the equaliser in a 1-1 draw with VfB Stuttgart.

Never heard of this guy before, but my golly I like the look of him. Mostly because he seems to have all the physical attributes to do well in the Prem. Strong, good agility, balance, first touch and a bit of pace about him. Think him and Taiwo would be formidable together and could certainly learn from each other.

Doesn't sound too likely to happen with Utd getting involved, but would like to see this

He’d come as first choice, although don’t see it happening. That said, given the ‘low’ release clause you’re almost forced to ask the question….

Can't see us playing 2 CFs - does anyone do that any more?
Man City do, on occasion, but then when one of them is Erling Haaland, that does maybe make the second-striker‘s life a little easier?

For what it’s worth, at Stuttgart, Serhou plays typically either as the only striker, with two wider attacking players either side of him, or occasionally with a deeper-lying second striker behind him - in either formation, he’s absolutely lethal. Left foot, right foot, with the head, doesn’t matter - get him the ball, he will trouble the opposition.

Exactly, so it's either him or Taiwo isn't it if you apply that to Forest - not both together.

I mean, doesn’t that sound just perfect…..

I think considering we're a lower half team, we already have two better strikers than a lot of the teams around us. Looking for a new number one (pushing 7-goal Chris Wood down to third choice) seems unbalanced, when we have zero PL goalkeepers and 2 wingers.

On balance that is correct. But when this player is available for under 20mil then I think it’s borderline unprofessional not to be in the race. We have Taiwo locked up on a long term deal. Wood won’t be here long will he.

That's still the bulk of a fee for a really good GK. If money (and FFP) were infinite then sure, but I'd rather we picked up a young South American prospect for around £10m say than a 27-year-old for almost double that.

Not necessarily; Stuttgart under Sebastian Höneß typically line up in a (very) attacking 4-3-3, with Serhou flanked by wider attacking players Chris Führich and Silas, or on occasion, they’ve brought second striker Deniz Undav (on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion) in to the side as well, and at times gone 4-2-4 which sounds bonkers but is brilliant to watch, and given the club have cemented third-place in the table, whilst scoring 37 league goals in 16 games, it seems to have worked quite well?

I think the problem Forest might have would be to fit Taiwo, Serhou and Morgan Gibbs-White into the same team. That might be overloading the top end of the pitch too much.

I think we should capitalise on the momentum shift created under Nuno. The Scarpa income would cover this transfer for 23/24.

All that said, I suspect this player with be converted by CL teams, especially at that reported contract clause amount.

So who do you play wide/deeper if you transpose that to Forest? Taiwo or Serhou? (@Strummer)
To be honest, maybe either? One thing I do like about Mr. Guirassy, is his movement, as he is incredibly comfortable dropping into midfield to get the ball - indeed, his winning possession in the centre of the pitch and springing one of the wide-men is a tactic that Die Schwaben have used to devastating effect this season.

Interchangeable front 3, not sure why everything has to so set around Taiwo, especially with a more forward looking perspective. We are playing a different style of football now, but in tactics and structure.

I keep reading posts on here about this chap, but I don't actually know anything about him.
Hopefully our recruiters know more than me, plus understand how, if we do buy him, he will fit in with Nuno's Masterplan of World domination in 2.5 seasons.

FC Bayern now reportedly interested, as they fancy a 1-2 with Serhou and Harry Kane.

I am already sick of that rabble stealing Stuttgart‘s best players.

Kicker reports that the sub-€20m release clause in the Guinean‘s contract has now expired (as was the case in the summer window) so if anyone is tempted to make an offer, it’s going to have to be a substantial one to tempt the VfB to sell the man who has plundered 17 goals in 14 Bundesliga games so far this season.
