I saw a twitter post from Stoke and the majority were saying positive things, not been given a chance, anyone saying he’s shit is an idiot etc… The jury is out obviously but if he hasn’t been given a proper run then it is difficult to judge and a fresh start is good for him and maybe us.

I don’t want to diss this lad, and I hope he is going to have a successful career with us.
My good friend from Bournemouth has followed Surrige’s career.
His observations are that Surrige is a willing work horse but being tall and gangly he is neither a target man nor a poacher.
The fact that Bournemouth shipped him out to Stoke after frequent loans mainly to non-league clubs.
That Stoke have moved him on 18 months or so into a 4.5 year contract isn’t a great sign.
We needed a 20 goal replacement for the injured Grabban.
I’m not sure we have got one!

If there wasn’t than why don’t we just play Taylor or Larson than?
People say we won’t get a 20 goal striker for 2 mill and that’s fair enough but Surridge is 23 he isn’t quite a prospect anymore. For teams to get promoted we will need probably at least 60 goals scored as a general rule but of course there are exceptions. So we will need someone to score 15 at least in a season if we are going to get promoted.
So I wouldn’t put the expectation that we will never get a 20 goal a season striker. Just instead Forest will have to do it on the cheap and buy young and cheap and bring them on. So I’m not sure Surridge fits either Modus Operandis. However balance is Cooper knows him and likes him so if anyone is going to squeak every last ounce of potential out of him it’s Cooper.

It would be interesting to know if Surridge was targeted prior to Sunday.
We've all been disappointed with Taylor, many of us thought he would turn out to be a good signing.
