No it isn't.

As you said quite forcefully. We're entitled to our opinions. Provided we stay polite.
Yep but its not much of an opinion to just diss mine in an unpleasant manner.

I'll happily debate or even explain my view on Yates if you want but I suspect you have no interest at all in what I have to say and my suspicion is your only aim is to be unpleasant and patronising and that as a result this will turn will rapidly turn into a fallout-I don't want or need that regardless of what I may think of Ryan Yates.

Utter tosh.

You quite often find the 'clique' as you call them (not that there is one, just long term posters) arguing amongst themselves. Let alone with newer posters.

But you don't want to see that.
...And I'd show this as an example of what I am saying above. Theres no need for such a high handed response to Yeezys point which is quite reasonable even if it doesn't fit your agenda/POV....

At least I didn't give. One word reply of 'bollocks' and explained why I thought he was wrong.

Sorry for being so high handed.

Mentioning "bollocks" and Yates in the same sentence is never too far off anyways

I do see a role for Yates this season but Cooper's big gripe from the first game was our ball retention, that isn't a strength of Yates'. If/when we sign Freuler I can't see regular starts for Ryan.

Yates doesn't give the ball away alot though, and his constant movement and presence would actually help the rest of the team retain possession.
I do agree its hard to see how Yates/Freuler would ever work, so I'm wondering how Yates fits, but he's the vice captain! Surely Cooper wouldn't have done that if he wasn't going to play him much.

As I have Freuler he's more an O'Brien type forward runner? (I'm no expert, just looking at his wonderwheel)

Yates' stats probably look decent as he plays a lot of low-risk passes that don't particularly hurt the opposition. It's rare you'll see him thread balls through.

I don't think it's going to cut it in the big leagues though where I think you need your midfield able to hurt the opposition, particularly if they're just in a 2 like we'll often play. Of course he could prove us all wrong (again) but having watched him for years I see lots of qualities but technically lacking for the kind of speed and intensity of the Premier League.

Considering the lad has never played Premier League football people can "think" what they like, there's only one way we can find out and I for one think he deserves that chance. He's one of the reasons we're in the Premier league.

If he shows the same attitude to improvement he has so far in his career, its not hard to suggest he will reach the level of others around him and the better the players around him, the more he improves IMO.

Our fans said he wasn't good enough for the championship, they were proven wrong. I don't get the obsession with trying to put him down before he's even kicked a ball of premier League football.

Some fans dislike a player and just want to be proven right, when they were patently wrong before. Now we're in the prem it's their opportunity to have a pop again. I have no doubt Yates will be able to handle this division, will he play all the games? No, will he still have a massive part? Yes.

I think he'll have a massive part regardless of anything, unless he goes for surgery or something

Seeing similarities with Carvalho when Alfreton crocked him pre season a few years ago. Others made the most of getting a start and he struggled to make the starting XI again. Hope that isn't the case with Yates, doubt it will be. Can't be nice sitting a bit helpless on the sidelines while the club is out buying players for your position.

It's all about mid-table...

Imagine if Carv had the commitment to improve that Yates has. If nothing else he'd have played last season.
