What odds do you think you can get on russia actually winning the tournament in 2018? Surely that's a safe bet...

Having just listened to Martha on Radio Nottingham I was really surprised at the strength of his comments.

To say what he said really suggests that he believes something is rotten in FIFA. What do you think he meant by 'politics' and 'friends'?

Has any one blamed the BBC yet?

I don't think you have to have any special inside knowledge to realise that FIFA is rotten to the core after today's news.

Saw a reporter on Sky News detailing the reasons why the Times and BBC have something to answer for regarding their exposures of the happy secrative world of FIFA back handers.

The British media cost us the bid.

However, all they did was point out the truth.

Qatar is oil rich, they can build massive stadiums and hotels and all the other infrastructure we can ill afford. I think of that last Grand Prix this season. It was the second one from a new purpose-built track in the middle east. They'd spent x millions out of oil revenue to build the ultimate F1 track.

If they can do that for F1. They can do that for football, and all our history cannot compete with that.

Well done to the British media. FIFA have a real achilles heel don't they

Sepp Blatter appears to be above the law, Russia pay to be above the Law.

Footy suffers, just how the f*** can any legacy be lasting in either Russia or Qatar?

In my view, the British media now need to go for the jugular.

Well now it's done i hope the BBC, times etc all join up and delve into FIFA some more.

Well, I think it was done and dusted long before any media got involved. We were never going to win this as we don't pay the going rate. FIFA are as bent as a nine bob note and it's long been apparent that it goes to the very top. Slightly older folks will remember the Blatter/Johannsen wars twenty years ago or so. If it wasn't obvious from Blatter's past and that people like Jack Warner and Jerome Valcke are still there then awarding the world cup to a rich oil country with just 12 professional clubs pretty much clinches it. FIFA will be made a laughing stock in 2022 but Sepp and most of his cronies will be long past caring by then.

You think if they were going to be corrupt they wouldn't make it so obvious. One other vote? Be a lot less suspicious if we lost to Russia in the last round of voting...

I just want to see the BBC and all the media go to town with regards to corruption in FIFA. Lets totally expose them for what they are, after all we have nothing to lose now. The thing that narked me was blatters comments something along the lines of the losers of today have to go home and say oh well, grrrrr! Two or three years planning, millions of pounds to lose because FIFA is corrupt...... oh well! grrrrrr, i hate the guy with a passion.

I'm glad Qatar won the 2022 bid. Because if a country that actually played the game won it I would have actually thought that the voting process was legit.
But it just backs up the FIFA is corrupt and football is solely driven by money notion.
One last thing this is 2 countries that have put zilch into the game.
Absolutely disgraceful.

You can't blame the Qataris; they've chucked their Keifyeh in to the ring and they've won the bid.

Money is no object to them, they are swimming in the stuff. They could afford to - and will - subsidise the entire World Cup from their oil and gas revenue.

The big issue with Qatar is its small size (the Formula 1 race is in Abu Dhabi by the way, which, whilst also being part of the UAE, is not part of the World Cup bid). Qatar's bid centres on building the new stadia around the main city of Doha, which would be the equivalent to holding the World Cup in Birmingham, in terms of size.

Hardly a great experience!
