Roy Hodgson

It's all about mid-table...
Hodgson should have just binned him rather than set himself up for this inevitable pantomime from a spoilt child and the petty purple nosed thundercunt that owns him.

Roy Keane summed him up perfectly, "He (Rio) thinks he is the best centre half in the world - he isn't even the best centre half in his own family"

This, with feckin bells hanging on it.

Roy Keane is one of the few people in football who hasn't been wrecked by endless media training.

Most of what he says is mental, but at least he speaks his mind and doesnt just go with the diplomatic comment for everything.

Quite like listening to Keane - he tells it how it is. Refreshing nowadays for a pundit.

You can tell he's got no time whatsoever for Chiles and also Southgate who merely seems content to toe the party line for fear of upsetting the FA.

Never understood why tv companies choose such shit pundits, sometimes it's not as if they even achieved much as a player. Andy Townsend ffs, Jamie Redknapp, Southgate, Lee Dixon, Dion Dublin and Robbie Savage - all average players and all with nothing interesting to say.

Has he singed yet?
You're right, the pundits that don't tow the party line invariably are the ones worth listening to. If I watch MOTD these days, I make a point of not listening to Lineker/Hansen etc because they never have anything of value to add. Thankfully ITV seemingly recognise at least one livewire pundit is better than nothing!

I'll tell you what, I'd love to see a Gary Neville-Roy Keane punditry team together.

That would be excellent. You've G Nev who has such fantastic insight into the game, and our pal Roy, who certainly isn't the kind of man to call a spade a soil distribution implement.

Wishing you all the very best Roy, get well soon.

You're in our thoughts.

Poor bugger needs to get well and get away from the game he’s done his bit.

Rumours say so but nothing official.
Club wishing him well, Fabrizio naming his successor, looks pretty crappy from them.

They seem to have got their timing completely wrong and its backfired a bit because he "fell ill" at the moment that they probably decided he was on the way out but expected him to do bs like prematch press conferences!

Perhaps Prem League managers will learn from recent events.
Klippity to retire because he is knackered...
Hodgson doesn't retire when he ought, and is taken ill and hospitalised...
The managers get paid well, but the human physiology isn't able to take the sort of stress of a Prem job indefinitely.
Players will be the same in years to come, you mark my words.

Poor bloke. Got loads of time and respect for Roy. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery.

Agree with Bonfy that he should step away from the game now though. He's had a brilliant career and has nothing to prove to anyone; get better and enjoy the rest of your life away from the pressure cooker of football management now Roy.

Not sure that any 76 year old man should be dealing with the rigours, demands, and intensity of the Premier League.

It's a job that younger men can struggle with, as recently witnessed with Jurgen Klopp.

Take your time, Roy. Get well soon and please look after yourself. Wish you the best. You're a gent.

Hope Roy is OK.

He can do what he likes, of course, and clearly loves the game, but managing in a PL relegation battle shouldn't be something a guy in his late 70s is doing.

People in the media talking about his replacement is disgraceful really whilst he's still in post. But realistically, this is the best opportunity for them to do it and save face from the whole charade.

They should - provided he is OK with doing this - use this as the ideal opportunity to allow Hodgson to step aside in favour of Glasner, citing the health issues and his age, and thank him for his service in both spells with the club. Don't see how they can sack him now, it'd just feel wrong.
