They'll spread the £11m over three or four seasons too most likely.

I was thinking that too. Hernandez cost £6, and that was Manchester United buying, where as Fulham are expected to cough up £11m for Ross McCormack!
I really hope that doesn't set the tone for the rest of the Championship to start overpricing players so we lose out on top transfer targets.

Mitroglou 12m
McCormack 11m
= 23m

Suarez (Ajax to Liverpool) 22m

Surely this example has to rewrite the rules regarding FFP. Completely unfair that relegated teams can pay this kind of fee using bogus income and not be penalised.

So the rumours on facebook from a few weeks ago that McCormack was spotted at pride park weren't true?

The problem you have with these clubs coming down from the prem and buying players for sily money is that then sets the precedent for future transfer fee's. Which leaves the smaller clubs at a disadvantage because not only can they never afford to buy a decent chamionship player they cant even bring one through their f***ing academy because as soon as a prem club gets a sniff that they have potential they are snapped up destined to be loaned to another champ club to try and earn their stripes. FOOTBALL IS STUPID

Fulham have circa £60m in parachute money so essentially it's chump change to them, if it gets them back to the Premier League.

It does - yet again - point out the ridiculous situation of the financial advantage relegated clubs have over everyone else.

In context, £11m is two-thirds of our average turnover for a season.

Exactly. It's not actually that big an outlay for a relegated PL team with the new parachute payments, although it does illustrate the emerging financial gap.
They've signed a proven championship goal scorer, which has to increase their chances of going straight back up.

Seems like the whole system is set up to keep the top clubs at the top and the lower clubs where they languish already.
But like someone pointed out, Walsall must have thought that when we took Paterson.
It's the Southampton fans I feel sorry for...

What do Fulham fans think of this? Has anyone ever met one? Can't say I have. I'd try and find a Fulham forum but imagine it to be dead with no replies since the 26th of June.

I used to work with one. To this day he is still the only Fulham fan that I've ever met and I live in London.

A perfect example why FFP in the Championship isn't fair.

Fulham, having 'earnt' £63.3m (+ a further £60m spread over the next 4 years in parachute mayments) for finishing 19th last season can afford to spend an £11m transfer fee on one player.

Whereas Brentford's whole annual budget - fee's, wages, the lot, will probably be quite a bit less than £11m.

It looks like something fishy is going on here. Leeds are buying a load of Italian lads from Italian clubs, who are probably run by Cellino's mates. Looks like a standard profit scheme. He'll distribute the McCormack cash to Italy and some of it will eventually end up in his back pocket

He has been a consistent goalscorer in this league for a number of years.

£11 million is a pathetic amount to pay for a player though in this league.

Ross McCormack is the absolute antithesis of consistent. 5 goals in 32 games in 2012-13, 2 in 20 in 2010-11, 4 in 34 in 2009-10.

I thought we got our pants pulled down paying £2m for Cox, but this completely blows that out of the water. In terms of value for money, I can't imagine a much worse signing. Fulham are welcome to him.

United owner Massimo Cellino has defended the sale of the player, insisting he was “disrespected” by the Scotland man.

The sale of the 27-year-old went through just weeks after the club’s Italian owner had pledged that McCormack was not for sale. But Leeds’ 29-goal top scorer was allowed to move after requesting a transfer.

Cellino said: “I like to be in control of situations but it felt like he wasn’t my player. I was disrespected, he was aggressive with me.

“He’s a bloody good player and I’m not going to pretend that he isn’t but he didn’t respect me and it wasn’t possible to keep him.”

Canny business by Leeds. Fulham obviously hoping for automatic promotion next season.
