Richmond Mamah Laryea

I'd say not worth much. Laryea was fine. He was notably better in the first two matches of the March window, which was good to see after not performing at his normal level in January. It was a pretty uneventful 17 minutes off the bench where he did some good things, but failed to make any kind of match-changing impact. However, the person in that link gave three people the same grade as Koné, which is insane. Koné arguably had the worst performance in a Canada shirt since the pandemic if not longer. And Hutchinson had a share of the top score. Which has to be based on reputation and not what took place on the pitch.

I'm looking forward to Laryea making his debut, but in the meantime it's been highly enjoyable watching this Forest side.

I do think we need to give a fullback sone game time before the playoffs and ideally in competitive matches rather than dead rubbers.
I can’t see anyway we won’t play Boro at some point if we make the play offs (and are successful) and add to that I worry about Jack at LB. He’s carried a huge workload over the last 6 months and no one could be surprised if ge picked up a niggle at his age…
So at least have a bit of mitigation in place?

we need to get some minutes to the lad , just in case we have to play boro in the playoffs and we are without spence. can't be depending on fin back again. The lad is going to the world cup , needs some match game time.

Colback had a poor 1st half last night. Cooper won't change a winning team, but surely we try Richy against Peterborough in the event we don't have Djed for the playoffs.

Am I correct in thinking that we finally saw this chap take to the field last night, and that when we did everyone seem reluctant to pass to him, notwithstanding the fact he seemed to make some good runs?

The crowd cottoned on to this, to the point there were ironic cheers on the few occasions he actually got the ball.

We barely got the ball in advanced positions in the final ten minutes because we were playing at walking pace as the game had long been won.

I don't get why he wasn't introduced earlier. Could have come on at half time and had a good 45 minutes to get some proper match minutes. But weird Cooper had us full strength right up until ten minutes to go.

Let’s not get too aeriated over whether or not Laryea received enough passes.
The crucial points over his introduction were that he got a taste of the white hot City Ground atmosphere.
And it was important that he wasn’t put in a position where he could make a mistake.

Important step for him yesterday. His starting position was so high it was more a risky ball to play him in-forest didn’t need to take these unnecessary risks. Would have liked him to drop back on occasions to get involved in more of build up play and then time progressive runs. But main thing is he has mins under his belt.

100% correct. His touchline hugging in quite an advanced position didn't do him many favours though. I thought he looked pretty nifty going forward, with the limited involvement he had. There wasn't much to report in terms of his defensive involvement, such was West Brom's lack of intent and penetration by that stage.

I don’t think the cheers were ironic. Just think the crowd wanted to give the new boy a warm welcome and some encouragement. In the second half “training match” scenario we struggled to get a pass to Surridge until the 93rd minute, let alone “choose” not to pass to Richie Right Back. Pleased he finally made it onto the pitch at long long last!

You could see him trying to make runs in behind as soon as he came on. The crowd certainly could and were getting frustrated no-one tried to put him in. We were coasting though and just keeping possession. At 3-0 it would have been nice to let him see more of the ball though.

I love Joe Worrall even though I’ve been slightly critical of his passing elsewhere. But he was the chief culprit in not giving him the ball last night:LOL:

I'm not buying it that he's 27.... he must have had a paper round up a mountain

They were 100% ironic. Worrall had SO MANY CHANCES to give him the ball and there was even a moment where he ignored him again and the entire stand on that side of the city ground groaned.

Love it. Found it amusing there were so many doubts around him because he wasn't involved. Quite clearly this Forest team has been thriving and it is a hard team to get into right now.

Richie Laryea received a round of applause from the Forest team after making his debut on Easter Monday.

“He’s part of what we’re doing here. If he’s called upon, I’m sure he’ll be doing everything he can to make sure he’s as ready as he can be.

“I think he enjoyed it; hopefully he did. He got a round of applause after the game.”

I am guessing he is a back up plan if we play Boro or God forbid Spence gets injured.
