Nottingham's dirty secret
I wouldn't be so sure.

We all know Dane & co would be selling the dream & project. Saying how confident we are that we'd compete & not just aim to survive.

Anybody who watched our first game would no doubt be conscious of the fact we got absolutely hammered and barely touched the ball.

Might not be rationale but hey ho...

Good footballers move to shit teams in trouble all the time.

I doubt one game makes the difference.

Maybe the common thing here is their age - late 20s, probably got young families, etc*

* I'm not proposing this as a reason, btw, just being speculative as to other possible reasons

I doubt anyone that signed before last weekend thought we were in for anything other than a relegation battle.

By and large they were younger players than the older ones we're struggling to sign now. Not surprising that we were able to sell the youngsters a long term project.

Performances like last week certainly wont help though, of that we can be certain.

Guess we'll never know.

I have my doubts at to whether Lingard etc would have signed after watching last Saturday. Might sound dramatic but footballers are a fickle bunch. It wasn't a narrow defeat it was embarrassing.

Do people think it will be smooth sailing attracted players playing in Europe to Forest. I am glad we are going for ambitious targets, it's much easier to sign unwanted players with no pedigree for a reason.

Stick at it Forest. We will have hard work convincing players like this to join had we beat Newcastle 3-0, results mean very little! But it will be worth it.

The danger of leaving business to the last minute. Players will use the fact that we are “desperate “ and screw us over in their pay demands.
How's it the last minute?

I thought this guy had rejected us days ago? Assume that's why the Garner and Palace bloke noises were happening?

Tends to be when the money is silly though.

I'm one of those who suggested players would be more reluctant to come after Saturday and was shot down for being negative and told to go out and enjoy the sun instead...

If you were a foreigner player of repute like Moreno or Freuler you know very little about Forest other than the European Cups and probably even less about our squad and Cooper. Watching Saturday all they're seeing is a team who looked every bit relegation certainties and there's no way on this Earth you would upsticks and come here unless you were given ridiculous money and/or a convenient get out in the contract should we go down.

Yeah, you've not mentioned it, apart from those other 7 times.

Maybe it was watched by the players, maybe it wasn't but I don't think it makes a difference, as we were amongst relegation favourites with most before saturday and as dogtits said, does that mean they suddenly being really keen to join us and would take less if we'd won instead?

Take less, no. More keen, yes.

Before the season starts we’re all equal on zero points. Suppose the desperation comes when it becomes obvious the team is light in certain areas

Ah I see - it's quite rare to have your full squad assembled 20 days prior to the deadline though right? For me midfield wise the priority at this moment is bedding in Mangala and O'Brien, and getting Yates fit. Agree we need more depth/options but that will take time.

His agent is shaquiris brother, and he acted for his brother as the player went from Bayern Munich, to Inter Milan then to Stoke! No offence to Stoke but it tells me that if he'd send his own brother to play and live there you've always got half a chance!

I'm not sure if the game swayed either of these two players but if it did then we don't need them because they're too simple. He plays for a team that lost away at Newcastle by one goal a couple of weeks ago so basically he's not willing to pay for a team that lost at Newcastle because he'd rather play for a team that lost at Newcastle.

I've said before pretty much every player underperformed versus what we have seen them deliver. They are capable of better and these players would add quality but I'm not broken hearted if he doesn't come.

Its a big decision to move country, imagine that there is additional thinking that needs to happen but if he comes great, if not then meh.
