Remo Marco Freuler + Trains thread

I'm not sure that the stats quite show that Yates is 'objectively better' in all of those areas. I'll let you take a look yourself (it's a bit of a mixed bag) https://fbref.com/en/squads/e4a775cb/2022-2023/Nottingham-Forest-Stats

According to the document you shared Yates has:
- More goals
- More assists
- More expected goals
- More expected assists
- More progressive carries
- More progressive passes received

The only thing Freuler has more of is "progressive passes" but you can tell why by the criteria to rack those up. >10 yard passes from the half-way line count. You'll notice Mangala, Yates and Danilo are all lower on this metric despite all three of them being far more incisive with build up play.

So mixed bag is being generous.

If you want to argue that Freuler was held back (in terms of both stats and "eye test" performances) then there is a case to answer as it's clear he was being restricted to nothing more than an anchor man - but then that leads into a discussion about your Fofana's, Sangare's etc who would replace Freuler in that role but presumably be expected to contribute more to the team than just cutting some passing lanes.

You won't be surprised that Remo had more interceptions and blocks.

If you weight blocks by actual minutes played (given Freuler played 20% more of the season than Yates) then the numbers are pretty much the same.

Which isn't the case if you weight down Freuler's "dribbled past" metric which is double that of Yates.

Interceptions is the only metric Freuler wins in, but only from a midfield POV, the defenders all equal scores in that measure.

Which to me says it all. The only thing Freuler brought to the table was "intercepting the passing lanes" but despite that we still rather open defensively. So you have a player who's supposed to solidify the defence and make it hard to break down, we weren't, and for that you get no attacking contribution from him.

No thanks.

I hadn't scrolled down the page to see the other stats to be fair hence why I missed it out first time round!

I did some five way comparison with all our midfield this morning, got bored and came to the conclusion that stats wise our midfield is poor! The poster above is probably right in that it links to style.

Can‘t wait until we can get back to talking about trains.

Let’s not rewrite history, there was a period in winter where he was excellent and it was reflected in the defensive stats of the team. Then people wanted something different so he moved, our defence completely fell apart & RF never recovered form wise when Danilo emerged and overtook him.

To imply he contributed nothing or to suggest he was crap from minute one is just disingenuous. He will go elsewhere and do well, good luck to him. He is at his best in high possession teams, we are just not that.

Agreed. I don't really understand the hate for him. He doesn't fit our style, but I wouldn't describe him as crap at all.

There's a reason he still has plenty of admirers in Italy. He'll probably do really well at Bologna.

Can't remember the train type it was between Kuala Lumpur and Johor Baru in Malaysia, obviously it was up for its yearly clean I managed to snag a 1st ticket on day 364. It was long tedious during the night and as you awoke all the cockroaches ran off you.

It was an old diesel.

I'd quite like to do the Trans-Siberian, but would probably despise sharing, and yeah Ok it's Russia

Probably in the region of 150+ individual travels in China ( Great Bunch of Lads) from executive bullet trains to been bunked up in 2nd class with a great bunch of lads and lasses with livestock with plenty of gobbling

Enough of this Freuler would be better in a better side nonsense. The bloke couldn’t make a 2 yard pass against Notts County in pre season. He’s just not very good.

Is EM still trying to buy Monza? It has gone all quiet, you could assume by that the answer is yes.

Is EM still trying to buy Monza?
I did a brief search last week but I couldn't find anything since mid June when it it was reported that the Berlusconi Estate, or his kids, wanted a full sale of the club. EM wasn't mentioned at all.

When EM was originally linked, it was only for a minor stake.
