Remaing Fixtures for top 9

Alpha Fail

Jack Burkitt
There was no pressure on us when we allowed Blackpool an open net to equalise with nine men, costing us two points that would have really changed people's outlook on this run-in.

If we were two wins and a draw behind Brentford, you'd think it much more likely than we are at three wins.

The top four are all on 66 points. This is an amazing Division. Everything the Premier league isn't. I'm not sure I'd want to leave it even if we did get a playoff place.

The new manager bounce usually ends at around 6 games, so I'm expecting a drop in form. Looking at those fixtures, I think we'll end up about 8-10 points shy of 6th, but it's certainly entertaining watching us make a go of at after all those months of falling down the table.

Please move along. That's it, move right on along, folks. There's nothing to see here.
And before you ask.......no, I don't believe in fairies either.
Norwich and Bournemouth for me (I hope!). Derby stuck in 3rd and losing a 2nd consecutive play-off final.

Derby have a real tough 6 games. I would include Wigan as a tough game as they are fighting for their life and have just hit a bit of form.
I bet the sheep are shitting themselves. They are very worried.

As for us. Just keep winning. Saturday's is a tough game as Leeds have found some form of late. Win Saturday and then reassess. Lose and it becomes very difficult.

So the remaining fixtures for top 9

9) Forest
===========
14 Mar - Leeds (A)
18 Mar - Rotherham (H)
21 Mar - Norwich (A)
03 Apr - Wolves (H)
06 Apr - Brentford (A)
11 Apr - Huddersfield (H)
14 Apr - Watford (H)
17 Apr - Blackburn (A)
25 Apr - Ipswich (A)
02 May - Cardiff (H)

Forest have a really tall order because they cannot afford any more slip ups.

Looking at that, we need to secure wins against Leeds, Rotherham, Wolves, Huddersfield, Watford, Blackburn and Cardiff.

Losing to Wolves wouldn't be too bad as they'll probably end up top two. Holding Ipswich and Brentford to draws away from home is a tough ask too, especially in combined with winning all the games listed above.

That'd give us 76 points, probably a 50/50 chance of making top six.

Beating Leeds next up is pivotal. If we do that we'll probably still be in the running, however many points it would be to make up, until we play Watford at home. Lose it and we're probably done for.

No need for complex permutations or any brain thinking: all we need to do is win all our games.

OK, though we might as well win them all by more than 2 goals, just in case it comes down to goal difference.

Of course you would. The Premier League is the best league in the world. Don't you watch Sky? They tell you often enough.

It's all about mid-table...
We are always about one game from not getting 6th. It'll be that way to the end, even if we keep winning.

It's pie in the sky I'm sorry to say me owd taytas. :(

I'm with everybody else though, if there's a straw to be clutched let's grasp it whilst the fat lady clears her throat.

:) I didn't get the memo mate. I only ever use Sky Sports for Forest matches on NowTV ppv. My interest in the Premier league is so low I couldnt name the top 5 in order.

The Ipswich game will be fantastic win at Portman rd then destroy Cardiff to grab 6th place then bring on the sheep in the playoffs

With 5 games against the top 8 teams, we can deny each of the 3 points... a challenge but never-the-less its what we have to do and are capable of

for the rest, there are a lot of top 9 v top 9 games - they have to result in either a 3 gap closed on one of them or 2pts on both of them assuming we win in that game week... I think that's the pressure pot we're in

Bournemouth - 2 from the top 9, 1 from bottom 3
Derby - 4 from the top 9, 3 from bottom 3
Watford - 4 from top 9, 2 from bottom 3
Boro - 6 from top 9, 1 from bottom 3
Norch - 3 from top 9
Brentford - 2 from top 9, 2 from bottom 3
Ipswich - 4 from top 9, 1 from bottom 3
Wolves - 4 from the top 9, 2 from bottom 3
Forest - 5 from the top 9

Can Forest muster the bollocks to see this one out?

Note that in desperation Millwall have just sacked Holloway and appointed ex Forest player Neil Harris. They are gambling on a new manager bounce:

Derby, Watford, Brentford, Wolves all have to play the Lions.

Best of luck to Harris, then.

Less-der made the play-offs against us on 68 points, last season it was Brighton on 72. This season is anyone's guess but I doubt it will be much higher than the bin-dippers tally when you look at all the 6-point matches involved before the season ends. IF we won the matches against those currently above us we'd be in with a very decent shout. Easter Monday and we'll have a much better idea. Sheep, Boro, Ipswich and Wolves have enough games to make or break their own seasons, just as we do - and IF we win these games our goal difference will also improve - possibly enough to swing us one place higher on the final day. All hypothesis, but at least there's still interest!

Forget forest I may actually watch every match on fls up until the last day cracking season this! Of course I'm still going to whine about why we don't get more coverage every week though....

Derby have 5 from the top 9 - Norwich, Boro, Wolves, Watford & Brentford.
Ipswich also have 5 - Boro, Watford, Bournemouth, Wolves & Forest.

Would be great if Brighton, Fulham & Rotherham were closer to the relegation zone.

Fulham have to play Norwich, Brentford, Boro still.
Rotherham have Norwich, Boro still.
Brighton have Norwich, B'Mouth, Boro, Watford still.
