Former Chelsea,QPR and Arsenal player John Hollins has passed away aged 76.A good player,I remember him playing against Forest in the 60’s,70’s and 80’s.
His older brother Dave played on loan for Forest (from Mansfield) in 1970 during a goalkeeping injury crisis.
R.I.P John.
The first game Dave played for us was against Chelsea at the WFCG and John was playing for Chelsea. Only time they were ever on opposing sides in a pro game apparently.
RIP

Dave Hollins did make his debut against Chelsea as you say-but the game was at Stamford Bridge on
7 March 1970.

OK I must have false memory syndrome I was very young at the time. I think the home game against Chelsea that season then must have been the one where Alan Hill got injured and John Brindley came on but who went in goal?

I thought that he got injured playing against Everton , but it was a long time ago and am willing to be corrected.

I think it may have been Dave Hilley who was the unlikely candidate to go in goal!

Yes-Alan Hill definitely got injured against Everton (who won the league that season)-I remember Alex
Ingram scoring a rare goal (Joe Royle equalised for Everton).
Who went in goal? i think it was either Hilley or Ingram.

Pretty sure Jimmy McCaffrey came on for Hill in the Everton game, and Hilley went in goal
We signed Eric Hulme from Non-League at the same time as Hollins too but the latter went in to the first team.
Duncan McKenzie went to Mansfield in a loan swap for Hollins.

@alabamared was right in that Brindley did sub Hill in the Chelsea game earlier on in the season, but Hill was fit for the next game.

OK I have sorted my head out now with a bit of research. Hill injured against Everton (Hall was subbed against Chelsea)
But very interesting I came across newspaper reports of the Chelsea game which in themselves are interesting but if you look at main report there is an insert titled 'Forest fail in Ferguson bid' now I never knew that!

Yes-McCaffery was sub against Everton (thanks for confirming Hilley went in goal).
As alabamared says-Colin Hall (not Alan Hill) was subbed against Chelsea.

Alex Ferguson turned us down to join Scottish second division team Falkirk. That guy won't go anywhere in football will he!
