Yeah it's a bit disappointing. The closest is probably Group H - Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea. It's a bit more competitive but it's not like there's any team in there to be afraid of.

Safe to say whoever finishes 2nd in our group will play Netherlands in the 2nd round. Group winners should have a very winnable match.

It'll be even worse for 2026. Expanding to 48 teams. 16 groups of 3, top 2 progressing. It's a right mess.

Yeah lots of meaningless uncompetitive matches, I know people initially mocked it but the format of the UEFA League of Nations is spot on and means teams play competitive games all the time (if bothered) against teams of similar ability
A quick snap-poll amongst a few German friends returns their belief they’ll qualify alongside Spain (and a couple of them fancied getting a result against the Spaniards) and then the draw opens up a bit.
So, as ever, don’t write-off the Germans!

Ukraine's qualifier isn't until June, is it?
It wouldn't surprise me if they pull out of the competition - men aren't allowed to leave the country at the moment, and they'll hardly be interested in a football tournament at the moment.

I get how the Euro qualifiers don’t really matter because it will be a European team regardless, but aren’t Costa Rica playing New Zealand or something? Couldn’t CR have ended up in a group with another CONCACAF team?

I am sure when the matches are on you would find it hard to not tune in, perhaps just don't watch Qatar and maybe Saudi Arabia in their respective games.

It would be easier to boycott if it was summer, or Forest games were continuing, or if England didn't have a half decent side. I'd commend anyone with the willpower to see it through.

I decided to do that years ago.
I did expect to relent as it got closer though and get caught up in it, but couldn't have been less interested in the draw so so far still don't intend to watch.

I wasn't bothered about the draw either but it might be hard to not watch England if they got to the final say.
I already missed the Euro final last time out as I was dealing with a screaming child for four hours.

I think it will feel just like a really long international break.
I don't mind them as a spectacles but I never really enjoy world cups or euros that much. Even the one in the summer I never really felt that involved, it is not like club football to me.
But with this world cup, I feel like the atmospheres will be terrible in the stadiums. I have been to matches in the UAE and everyone just sits there in silence.
