Enough said
It was a man’s game in those days,Bonfire. You sure Cloughie ? are you sure it’s not Percy Thrower ? Look at the gloves, thorn proof them
Only because I’m so bloody old that I saw him play!Good knowledge by the way Cloughie
Villa v Bournemouth div 3 early 70s & Ted Mcdougal scored for Bournemouth but I think Villa won

Beat that for f***ing knowledge
What a fountain of knowledge.Indeed they did-it was the season Forest were relegated(1971/72).
Notts County were also going for promotion under Jimmy Sirrell-my brother got carted off by a friend and
his Dad to see the Magpies at Villa that season only to see them lose 1-0 despite being the better side.
This was the same day that Martin O’Neill made his debut and scored as a substitute in a 4-1 win over West
Brom at the City Ground (also the game that Asa Hartford returned to the Baggies after a medical at Leeds
revealed a hole-in-the heart).
Incidentally,Notts and Bournemouth both failed in their promotion bid-County going up a year later
to join Forest in Division 2.
Finally-the Villa v Bournemouth 3rd Division game was on Match of the Day-it wouldn’t happen now (more’s
the pity!).
The 70s were easily my favourite era of football,Rocka-even when the Reds were awful! What a fountain of knowledge.
Aye, same here Cloughie. Loved the 70's too. The grounds, the kits, the commentators, the pitches, the floodlights, the terraces, the players and most of all, the atmosphere seemed better even when we were only getting a few thousand. The 70s were easily my favourite era of football,Rocka-even when the Reds were awful!
I’m afraid the modern game doesn’t hold the same appeal for me-although I’ll always love Nottingham
Forest.
She's more than an upgrade to that red haired Trollope with the inflatable c**k.
Yes,Rocka-all of that.Also-for me,the players and managers had way more personality and not hamstrungAye, same here Cloughie. Loved the 70's too. Btw Cloughie, are you local to the Nott'm area?
Nice one Cloughie, if ever you're in the Long Eaton area, me and Duncan McKenzie (sorry not the real one) have a meet up over a few beers every now and then. You're more than welcome to join us. That goes for anyone else that reads these pages. I know Duncan is very eager for a meet up of forum members.Yes,Rocka-all of that.Also-for me,the players and managers had way more personality and not hamstrung
by pre-set plastic press conferences to suit TV schedules.
Finally-the Sky era has made money top dog and reduced competition in the game, thereby killing the
dream that my team (however humble) may eventually have a tilt at glory.
I lived in Nottingham until 1991 but now live nearby in Leicestershire (those pesky foxes keep annoying
me!).
Let me know,Rocka-I could always catch a train to Long Eaton (assuming they aren't on strike).Nice one Cloughie, if ever you're in the Long Eaton area, me and Duncan McKenzie (sorry not the real one) have a meet up over a few beers every now and then. Nice one Cloughie, we usually meet up around midday. I'll get in touch with DM and see when he's next available. I'm in Long Eaton most weeks. Geordie leaves me in the pub whilst she goes shopping.Let me know,Rocka-I could always catch a train to Long Eaton (assuming they aren't on strike).
At least I can alight before Derby!
