Peter Jones in the middle takes me back to our European Cup days. Me and me dad sat around the radio for the football special at 2 minutes past 8.

Same here FP very special nights they were.

It was always a worry though as the game had already been running for 15 minutes or half an hour so his first words were often recordings of goals that had already been scored. "After 17 minutes this happened" "and after 24 minutes this happened". Fortunately we were usually the ones doing the scoring back then. Crazy when you think back but we had absolutely no other way of knowing the score.

Listening to the Cologne v Forest away leg, was the one of the worst/most exciting radio nights ever for me.
Better than you sky coverage,

I get a lump in my throat whenever I hear the music and think back to the high pitch sound squealing over the commentary cause I wasn’t quiet tuned in properly…..shouting for father to try and tune it back in …..then putting me lug against the speaker ……..you could almost smell the liniment and bovril…….. 😕

Absolutely. I stood in there first game of the season when Forest had been relegated from the Premier League.
I missed that game,Rocka-but I went in 2005 for a ‘Megson special’ 1-0 defeat in League 1.
Incidentally,Southend pier was damaged by fire that night and the ‘Shrimpers’ gained promotion to the
2nd tier that season.
Edit-the most exciting part of the game was when one of the home cheerleaders decided to run topless
across the pitch.Mind you,Southend were very strong ‘up front’ that year.

We made a weekend of that & the Saturday night was chaos & the OB closed a section of the seafront because Forest & Millwall were knocking the shit out of each other

On the Saturday afternoon we were stood outside a pub on the seafront & this fella walked past in a Spurs shirt and the crazy f***er shouted "thanks for the FA Cup Des Walker" after which he was showered with bottles & pint glasses

As much as I’ve given Villa stick over the years that is a stunning stand from the outside

again “proper” is the only word you need

I think its a listed building, they built the new holte end around it

Although every time I go to the office driving past VP on the A38 I do a wanker sign out the car window which I also do whenever I drive down the 52

I don't care if its immature
