Dore on Tour, goes to all the home and away games. (y)

Screams like a girl whenever Forest score. 😆

I only watch for the "Dore scream" to be fair

Greg Mitchell although his attitude is lovely and it runs off on you is a bit biased I feel…. It’s like he’s incapable of saying anything slightly critical. Temps even though some may find annoying is at least a bit more balanced.

Wolverine is a cringe. He is far too sensationalist for me. He also has a tendency to say some words American. Which for some weird really gets my goat.

With Chris Wood it’s undeniable he has been shite the past games he’s played. There maybe very valid reasons for that (and I don’t think it’s woods fault) however he’s been shite. That’s a fact! On the weekend we actually played to his strengths so he scores. If Cooper is asking wood to pick the ball up on the halfway line than you gonna get shit performances. It’s more coopers fault (I hate writing that cause coops is legend) However if you cross it into box with other players arriving than you get goals!

Anyway the point of that is you don’t have to be always positive or negative and some things are nuanced. Like people calling Dennis a bad egg. Sometimes things just don’t work, it dosen’t mean dressing room unrest!

My long drive up to The North West every Tuesday morning is filled by listening to Garibaldi Red podcast followed by Red Side of The Trent. Both vary in quality depending on guests, especially the former. Forever Forest used to be the best out there until it changed hands but again that's now hugely hit & miss and also infrequent.

There's is definitely a gap in the market for a top draw Forest fan podcast.

I always listen to podcasts at 1.3x speed because I’m that kind of legend so when I watched the YouTube version of Garibaldi today at normal speed I nearly threw myself out the window. The pace of the title music was tedious, but more importantly, Matt Davies voice droned on even longer and with even less intensity of interest that ever.

Being so far away I subscribe to everything NFFC related and wade through it all - win lose or draw - I may not agree with it all but love to hear views from the coalface.

I have been listening to the 1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast since ... podcasts weren't a thing. Listened on my old apple ipod. They have been going for ages.

Dore on Tour is great - as are the young youtubers Rads, Jamie and Max.

Garabaldi Red Podcast
Forever Forest Podcast
Red Side of the Trent Podcast
Shut Up & Show More Football Podcast
Mist Rolling In Podcast

... if there are any others let me know.

Try Reservoir Red Dogs. There hasn’t been one released for ages but it’s pretty decent and there’s a back catalogue.

I tried most of them bar one or two and the only two that i subscribe to is the Garibaldi Red and young Rads. Rads and his dad are a great duo, and he's not up his own arse, he's just a Forest mad young kid who i'm delighted to see experience Forest in the top flight, really brings it home that theres a generation out there who have seen nothing but the misery of the past 23 years. His dad is a great character too.

There is definitely a market out there for a top top Forest podcast, one thing i've learned since we've been promoted is the quality and variety of some of the oppositions podcasts. Bournemouth has a quality set up where they actually do their homework on opponents and aren't giving it the big 'un, thats all i'd ask for from any podcast, reasonable intelligent football discussion about everything Forest but importantly, who we're actually playing against. Who is the dangermen in the opponents team etc followed up by a realistic prediction of team and score and other topics.

When you see Bournemouth and say Evertons Toffee tv where they have the place like a studio you realise how far behind we are on it. I'm not sure how much money the likes of Toffee TV makes but you'd imagine they're not doing it for free. Garibaldi comes close in terms of a range of different opinions but nothing too controversial, but with the lads all having full time jobs there definitely is the sense that its a "right we have 45 minutes to cram everything in for the week", thats not a shot at Matt or any of the guests, its just how things are.

I'll say one last thing though, that Wolverine prat needs his internet cut. He's going for the pure controversy and banter angle, like that "Goldbridge" clown. I remember the last time i had a look he was calling for Coops head after the Leicester game, if he's a Forest fan he ain't a long term one.

There's definitely an audience for a quality Forest podcast but is there really a market for it?

As soon as you want to lift the production values you're going to need put more effort into both pre and post production and find the right voices to form a solid offer. And then that time probably needs compensating.

I don't know if you saw Young Rads 'video essay' on the Fawaz years? He'd clearly put a lot of time in, but the production values were dreadful. This is not a criticism of him btw, he delivered his best. I'm just measuring it against a different quality bar.

I've been thinking about this quite a bit as I'd like to see it happen. Anyone who has some ideas about it can DM me.

When I go through the forum a couple of times a day, I read those posts which clearly a succinctly put their point and just ignore or speed read those which waffle.

Perhaps that's the recipe for a podcast. Less is more, get to the point quickly and clearly. Cut the pointless chat.

I got confused for a minute, as I thought the thread-title was a pun on that old Sonny and Cher song.

It is. But it's not that easy to do, in a natural way.

There is definitely a gap in the market for a really good Forest youtube channel.

Somebody get on it!

Matchday with Max is great, but the content is so short. Dore is okay, but the production value really is so so poor. The rest I haven't really paid much attention too to comment on.

Depends what you want from a channel. If you wanna make it your day job, then no - there isn't a market for it.

But there is absolutely a gap in the market for a really good Forest YouTube channel like Toffee TV or the Bournemouth channels mentioned above.

The market will grow with better content that everybody will enjoy.

I'm not really sure there is if you want to make a living from it, which you'd need to do if you were going to invest the right amount of time into it. I run a decent sized channel (~50k subscribers) that talks about football & Forest content is watched way less than even the likes of Bournemouth & Brentford. Or at least it was at the start of this season

To make a living from YT you need to be averaging about 50k views per day minimum (thats about £110 a day), thats pretty much unatainable without having access from Forest themselves as theres only so many people that would actually want to watch fan opinion sadly.

Until Forest get a bigger following then we'll have to accept Dore, Wolverine 😫, Rads etc as the pinacle of externally produced Forest content

Toffee TV
Professional media company run by proud Evertonians, with strong views on our great club and providing quality content for our fans.
I don't know about the Bournemouth one.

But it's just my opinion if you want to move beyond the DIY podcast scene. the prep and post-production is key.

It became professional because of it's success though - just like every other fan channel they would have started out small and as a hobby.

There is stuff all the Forest YT channels could do to improve to improve production, IMO. Much smaller clubs have some way better stuff.

You could achieve it through patreons & sponsors though, not just views. Most fan channels are funded through patreon, not ad revenue.

but its success was based on having better content, and at the end of the day, better content needs better production values
I listened to a Forest-related podcast today, its not that bad for DIY job and the conversation carries it on. But the host's questions are badly worded and rambling and it makes it harder for the guest to be fluid... it only needs a bit of preparation, editing and rehearsing and it would make the enjoyment of the 30 minutes so much better. But that probably takes 2 to 3 extra hours of work to get that better 30 mins in the can
